Cafes & Restaurants In Palolem & Patnem, Goa
Where Goes Rose?

After 2 weeks in Goa, India, eating my way through the Palolem restaurants, I think I’ve sampled all the best places in town. Whether you’re looking for healthy vegan food or authentic Goan cuisine, I’ve probably eaten it! Although there are plenty of beaches and boat trips to enjoy, part of the charm of South Goa is its sleepy nature. Especially with the humid climate, you might find yourself wanting to do little but kick back with a mango lassi or iced coffee at a cute Palolem cafe. Solo Travel in Asia: The BEST Places To Go & Tips!
Where Goes Rose?

After many years of travelling the world alone, I’m here to help you discover the best places in Asia to travel solo.  When I first began my solo travel journey, I felt confused by the many lists of ‘best solo female travel destinations in Asia’ that already existed. It seemed like they were written by people who had travelled to those countries with partners – which is a very different experience from solo travel – or were big companies who hadn’t visited the countries they listed at all! Travelling solo in Southeast Asia – my beloved Vietnam! Read next: 30 best places for solo trave ..read more

The Valbona Pass to Theth Hike, Albania
Where Goes Rose?

I’m extremely excited to tell you about my experiences hiking the Valbona Pass in Northern Albania. The Valbona to Theth Hike is one of the most beautiful (if not THE most beautiful) I’ve taken in Europe perhaps alongside Rila Lakes in Bulgaria and the Pico do Arieiro to Ruivo hike in Madeira. I was simply blown away by the beauty of the Accursed Mountains (Albanian Alps), somewhere that was never on my radar and surely has to be one of the most underrated parts of Europe! The Valbona hike was probably the highlight of my 2 month Balkan itinerary, although it’s hard to choose with so ma ..read more

Solo Travel in Vietnam: Everything To Know!
Where Goes Rose?

Vietnam was the third country I ever travelled solo having made my way alone through Myanmar and Laos in the weeks previously. That was a while ago now, in 2015. Since then, I’ve travelled solo in Mexico, India, Cuba, South Africa and many more. Since that first solo trip in Vietnam, I returned several times. In 2018, I lived in Vietnam for months, house and cat-sitting while building up my travel blog. I’m not sure why it took me so long to put together this post, but perhaps it’s because Vietnam feels like such a safe and easy place to travel that I didn’t feel the need. But we’re all at d ..read more

Hiking Marjan Hill, Split & Other Walks In Marjan Forest Park
Where Goes Rose?
by Rose

Of the many things to do in Split like exploring the Diocletian’s Palace and taking day trips to the islands, I have to say my favourite activity was hiking Marjan Hill and exploring the Forest Park, sometimes called the ‘Lungs of Split’. Just a short walk (but many stairs) from Split Old Town, this 178m hill offers spectacular views of the city and coast. Climbing to the top is indeed a highlight especially if you want amazing photos, however I can also vouch for the whole peninsular park as a lovely place to relax and spend time. While living in Croatia, I was lucky enough to live seconds ..read more

Split Old Town: What To See, Do & Eat
Where Goes Rose?

After living in Croatia for several months in 2022, I can’t rave enough about Split Old Town. Exploring the atmospheric alleyways is surely one of the best things to do in Split with fantastic restaurants, cosy coffee shops and ancient temples jumping out at every turn. The buildings in the UNESCO-protected Old Town are known as some of the best-preserved Roman ruins in the world, dating back to the 3rd century when the Diocletian (the Emperor of the Roman Empire) had the palace built as his retirement complex. The remains of the palace are mixed into the Old Town, making it a unique living ..read more

EPIC Montenegro Itinerary For 5-10 Days (No Car Needed!)
Where Goes Rose?

Planning a trip to Montenegro? It’s a beautiful and underrated country you’re going to love. During this Montenegro itinerary, I’ll help you plan where to visit, what to do, how to get around and more. Montenegro is one of the most beautiful countries in the Balkans, if not all of Europe. With a spectacular coastline and catholic churches (rather than the mosques in Ottoman-influenced Balkan countries like Albania and Kosovo), it feels like a lesser-visited Croatia. Although Kotor and Budva are cruise ship stops these days, the prices are still lower and the streets are nowhere near as pack ..read more
