POTTAWATOMIE CO. (KSNT) - Pottawatomie County residents will soon vote to approve or deny a retailers' sales tax to fund projects across the county.
On the ballots for this year's general election, voters in Pottawatomie County will either vote 'yes' or 'no' for an additional retailers' sales tax of 0.25% to be put into place Jan. 1, 2024. This proposed 0.25% retailers' sales tax is in addition to the existing retailers' sales tax of 1%. WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) — An effort to kick former President Donald Trump off the ballot went to court in Colorado on Monday, with a similar case in Minnesota set to pick up later this week.
Both cases argue that under the "insurrection clause," Trump should be barred from becoming president again.
"Trump engaged in insurrection and therefore cannot appear on the ballot," Eric Olson, a lawyer for the plaintiffs said.

House Republicans unveiled a $14.3 billion aid package for Israel on Monday, a show of support for the embattled U.S. ally amid its war against Hamas.
To pay for the foreign aid, however, the legislation includes $14.3 billion in cuts to funding for the Internal Revenue Service, a key detail that will likely be a non-starter for Democrats.

Former Vice President Mike Pence announced Saturday that he is suspending his 2024 campaign for the White House.
"It's become clear to me it's not my time," Pence said during a speech at the Republican Jewish Coalition Conference. "I've decided to suspend my campaign for president effective today."

The field of those vying to be the House GOP’s third nominee for Speaker is quickly becoming crowded after the conference voted on Friday to drop House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).
The conference pushed Jordan aside in a secret-ballot internal vote shortly after he lost a third House floor vote on Friday.
