How Much Editing Should you Expect from your City Hall Wedding Photographer? This is probably one of the most common questions I receive from our San Francisco city hall brides and grooms. Usually the question is this: “Do you edit the wedding photos?” However, I think that the question really should be about how much ..read more

SF City Hall Wedding – Holiday Season
SF City Hall Photographer Blog

I thought it would be appropriate to post this wedding from a past holiday season to help get us all in the mood for Christmas wedding photography at San Francisco city hall. I particularly loved this wedding because the couple went all out to create an elegant marriage during the holiday season. Both the bride and the groom wore formal clothes. The bride with an amazing long and beautiful wedding dress and the groom with his tux and tails. We have said this before, but San Francisco city hall takes a back seat to nobody when it comes to elegance. It is probably the only place on the west coas ..read more

SF City Hall Civil Ceremony – Photography

This was a recent civil ceremony at San Francisco city hall and we thought we would share some wedding photography. We started this shoot at city hall, but then finished it at the Legion of Honor. This couple had their family and friends with them to watch them complete their nuptials at this incredible San Francisco wedding venue. One of the interesting things about this particular wedding was that it took place during a Board of Supervisors meeting at SF City Hall. Whenever that occurs, the County Clerk moves all of the weddings to a different location instead of the Great Rotunda. On this p ..read more

We had the honor of photographing two weddings this past month that were officiated by the mayor, London Breed. Both of our couples had a connection through their parents to London Breed and made requests to the mayor’s office in order to have her officiate there San Francisco City Hall marriage. A lot of people don’t realize that the San Francisco mayor DOES perform quite a few weddings each month for various reasons and for certain notable people. I thought it would be fun to provide a quick summary of each of these weddings and describe how they came about. Not a Typical San Francisco City ..read more

SF City Hall Photographer Blog

The first thing people ask me when they book me to be their San Francisco City Hall wedding photographer is… “When are the best times to avoid the crowds.” There are many common answers to this question. Most people will tell you that early morning is the best time to photograph a couple at San Francisco City Hall. Others will tell you to avoid Fridays like the plague because it is one of the busiest days of the week. However, what if you are forced to have your wedding on a Friday because you need to bring in guests who are only available on the weekends? Or what if you don’t want to get up a ..read more

SF City Hall Event Closure – What to Do?
SF City Hall Photographer Blog

With the pandemic far back in everyone’s minds, San Francisco City Hall is starting to have private events again. The only good thing that came out of the pandemic is that City Hall had very few private events for a couple years afterwards. This made our job very easy for quite a while. In most cases, City Hall closes off the entire first floor when they have a big event and this can make it very difficult for brides and grooms who unluckily chose that date for their wedding. Does their wedding day need to be ruined? The answer is no! With our many years of experience as a San Francisco City H ..read more

5 Best Reasons NOT to have your Friends Photograph your City Hall Wedding

Let face it, cell phones take amazing pictures nowadays. In fact, I’ve seen some iPhone pictures that rival the best professional cameras. In addition, consumer cameras are as good as ever and easy for anyone to use. They provide an amateur photographer with the ability to auto focus, exposure correct, and white balance just about any photo taken. If you put the camera in “program mode” you basically have a point and shoot professional level camera. Like all digital cameras, they give the photographer the ability to see the photos right as they are taken. This avoids any negative surprises lat ..read more

We had a wonderful time photographing this LGBTQ couple at San Francisco City Hall. They brought a small group of friends with them to help in their celebration during the Christmas Season. Diana and Jessica decided that it would work better for their wedding day schedule to start right into there photography session. The plan was to meet them at the Grand Staircase and start taking pictures right there. We worked extensively with Diana and Jessica to plan their day and save the ceremony for last. We even did the family pictures before their civil ceremony. As luck would have it, the grand sta ..read more

4 great ideas for your SF City Hall “First Look”
SF City Hall Photographer Blog

Before I go into detail about some of these great ideas for a “first look” at San Francisco City Hall, let me make sure we all know what that means. A first look Is something that wedding photographers often set up so the groom can see the bride for the first time prior to the ceremony. For many years the first time that a groom would see his bride was when she was walking down the aisle during the wedding processional. It was once thought to be bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the actual wedding ceremony. There are some who still feel this way, but for the most part brides and g ..read more
