Does it really matter what’s in the glass?

Three friends walk into a pub. This isn’t the start of a joke, this is the latest in lockdown lifts across the country. It’s wonderful! A bit of beer, a bit of banter, and a growing anticipation that things might eventually be OK again. Once seated, these three friends order a pint of cider, a pint of cask ale and a pint of coke (because who doesn’t love those soda guns behind the bar?) to sip in the sun. Years ago you may have immediately assumed the ale was for a male, the cider for a lady and the soda for the designated driver, but we’ve long past those sad stereotypes. So what clich ..read more

Joy in the small things. Look for them.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve found some joy in the tiniest things. By that I mean, as a child, I drove my mother insane because I’d pick up any trinket that caught my eye while out and about. Those small things would inevitably land up in the washing machine which wasn’t very good for her overall mood or my derrière. That didn’t stop me though. And it’s a trait I’ve carried all my life. Finding joy in the small things has brought me a lot of contentment. Not in the cheesy motivational-poster kind of way. But in a way that has allowed me to take a look at where I am and appreciate what I ..read more

Inclusivity is more than a movement

Ladies and gentlemen, and everyone in between. See, inclusivity makes space for everyone who doesn’t fit the shape you think they should. Usually, when we think about inclusivity we think about the critical Black Lives Matter movement, or Love is Love. But it’s more than that. While these bigger movements are essential, inclusivity needs to be part of the smaller moments in our every day. For example, those who don’t drink – by choice. “No thanks, I don’t drink.” often gets a skeptical response or a gasp of surprise. Truth be told, who cares if someone doesn’t want to drink? That’s their choic ..read more

Things seem very overwhelming at the moment for everyone. It’s important to remember we can’t control everything, but there are many things we can, like our thoughts and our desire to do good. Non-alcoholic beer can play a role in how we prioritise our well-being. Socialising with the people we love is just as crucial for our health as making sure we exercise. But, with the way we socialise now in large social capacities, it can be increasingly difficult to want to attend when you’re struggling with anxiety or negative thoughts. So what role does non-alcoholic beer play in this? Why choose non ..read more

Karma or mindfulness: what is right for you?

When Good Karma founder, Steve, was going through a period of change in his life, he knew he needed to take a new path. He turned to karma. He accepted karma would bring him something positive around the next corner.  Also, he recognised that karma in its own way would deal with the past. Karma isn’t for everyone. Some choose to believe in some practices of karma, focusing instead on kindness and instilling good into the world. Others embrace mindfulness or yoga.  With practice, yoga can increase body awareness and sharpen attention, while also cantering the nervous system and reliev ..read more

Staying positive isn’t as easy as making sure there’s a smile on your face, it’s breaking the walls your mind has built up for you. It’s convincing that voice in the back of your head it’s wrong on the days when everything feels exhausting. Being around people, laughing and joking with your friends, sounds like the perfect antidote. But you have to get there first—which isn’t always easy.  Being positive is also showing up when you just want to hide.  It’s why, in the grand scheme of things, it’s essential to find joy in the smallest things. To be positive about what you can, and try ..read more

‘Radiate boundless love towards the entire world, then love that feeling’ – The Buddha We’re very excited to release our second beer, Love That Feeling! Every alcohol-free brand seems to be focusing on IPAs and pale ales in this crowded market, so we had to think about how we could stand out from the crowd. We’re not writing off an IPA, but we’re still hoping to dazzle you with the range and quality of our beers with our early releases! We settled on the humble Hefeweizen, which is one of the most popular beer styles around the world. The style originated in the 1520s and is another Bavarian ..read more

Culture Shock is here! We finally did it! Our inaugural release, Culture Shock, is here! We’re thrilled to have partnered with South East London’s Rock Leopard Brewing, another exciting independent brand, for this launch. We’re lucky to have not only had this opportunity to brew together, but to also call Stacey Ayeh from Rock Leopard a close and personal friend. He’s also one of the hardest working individuals in craft beer. We have a long history and have experienced a similar trajectory in this industry. It hasn’t been an easy journey for either of us! Even more excitingly, as two BAME (Bla ..read more

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a word being thrown around a lot recently. Yet there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding about what it is. To be mindful, in very general terms, is to be aware. Take away the notion of some miracle healing state of mind, or spiritual ‘be present’ type mantra for a moment. Imagine walking with a friend down a busy road, it’s the middle of winter and there are snow and ice, cars are flying past, and there are a hundred men in business suits scuttling by with coffees. As you’re both about to cross a busy street, your friend turns to you and says, “be mindful of that ice on the st ..read more
