You know how some couples have a song? Well, my husband and I have a book series. We read the entire Ransom trilogy on and around our honeymoon, and most recently re-read That Hideous Strength (the third in the trilogy) together 14 years later. I was in a world where forgiveness had happened. One of my exes, with whom we had the most vitriolic behavior to one another was standing in the cold, handing out warm boiled eggs to passersby, and letting them heat themselves near the fire of his companions as they peeled and ate.
