Summer is already coming to the end—school supplies and Halloween merchandise are already stocked on retail shelves—but that doesn’t mean planting season is over! Our new hybrid model includes broadcasting Winter events on Zoom at 7pm (January, February and March meetings), the rest are held in person at Emanuel Synagogue Auditorium, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford. This April marked the 200th anniversary of the birth of famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. Although his most well-known projects are elsewhere, such as Central Park in New York City, the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and Yosemite Valley in California, Olmsted was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut. Hill-Stead is thrilled to announce the launch of our new exhibition series, STRONG WOMEN. This first show will feature the work of Brooklyn-based art collective Hilma’s Ghost, comprised of Dannielle Tegeder and Sharmistha Ray and named after the Swedish artist and mystic, Hilma af Klint (1862-1944).
