If you thought there wasn’t any lavender fields just hanging out on the Western slopes of Colorado, well you’d be wrong. Last November during my birthday trip, I took a trip around Colorado to explore some of the places I’ve never seen. One of the places I decided to visit was Grand Junction, to one, see the area, and two see my Aunt and Uncle. During my travels in the area, they took me on a drive through Palisade’s many farms to a place called Sage Creations Organic Farm. While it was November, nothing was in bloom, but that didn’t make it any less beautiful. Lavender Fields in November ..read more

If you’ve ever been up to Westcliffe, Colorado, there’s no doubt you come across Silver West Feedstore. Having sat empty for several years, it’s hard not to peek inside to see the look and feel of this beautiful building. You can barely fathom how Silver West Feedstore has been so silently empty for five years. Thankfully, you don’t have to wonder any further, because Silver West Feedstore is open for business and packing a punch in a culinary experience and a homey atmosphere. Okay, but what exactly did Silver West Feedstore get turned into? I sat down with the owners of Silver West to learn ..read more

Recently, I sat down with the Founder of brand new, local delivery service SoCo Eats. If you didn’t know already, this little business is becoming a big deal in Fremont County and soon, the Southern Colorado region. But before all that happens, we should all get to know the people behind SoCo Eats, the service we’ve all been wishing for.   About SoCo Eats   Anthony Herrera, the Founder of SoCo Eats, graduated from Florence High School in 2005. He considered himself a normal student and had aspired to start something in his own name since attending Metro State University in Denver, Co ..read more

My Two Favorite Loose Leaf Tea Houses in Colorado

I am a BIG lover of tea, especially loose leaf tea. My love for tea is connected to my memories. When I smell Jasmine tea, I think of my mother because it’s one of her favorite teas to drink. I think of my brief stay in Zigong, Sichuan sipping hot Jasmine tea in a stone tower tea house overlooking a river.   My Obsession With Tea When I get a whiff of Dragonwell Green tea, I think of the first time my host family in China gave me authentic Chinese tea. I remember noting the difference in taste from that of an American market that imports Chinese tea. Each morning before I left for traini ..read more

This weekend, my friends and I took a much-needed fishing trip to Rampart Reservoir just Northwest of Colorado Springs and outside of Woodland Park, Colorado. We enjoyed the wonderful hike, and the magnificent Colorado weather, which has taken some time to decide what season it would like to be in. Going to Rampart Reservoir recreation area is the perfect trip for beginners looking to fish, camp, or hike for the first time or those who are just getting started with the Colorado outdoors. Get ready for a relaxing day too, because there will be no cell reception at this reservoir. Rampart Reserv ..read more

8 Winter Items to Include in Your Colorado Car Survival Kit

Winter is on its way (or already here) and many who choose to road trip through snowy terrains in search of adventure need to prepare properly and stay safe while on the road. I pretty much get all of my winter survival advice from my father who has visited all corners of Colorado. His mentality, “you never know what could happen, so best be prepared.” Winter is possibly one of the worst seasons to get into a tight spot or to get stranded. And nothing is worse than driving off-roads to a remote area and getting stuck, especially in a snowstorm. With cell phones, these days, the likelihood of b ..read more

8 Photos to Inspire A Visit to the Denver Selfie Museum

When I told my best friend I wanted to escape to the Denver Selfie Museum this weekend, her literal thoughts were: “I thought we were just going to go around, drink coffee, and look at pictures of selfies other people took.” What she, and I, got was a pleasant little fun-filled journey to Stout Street in Downtown Denver, where a little colorful secret resides. This trip was very reminiscent of our trip to Meow Wolf last year. Now, I will say, I did NOT enjoy the outfit I was wearing for this trip, and highly recommend you choose your outfit carefully before attending. My outfit was fine for ca ..read more

9 Fun & Relaxing Things to do in Florence, Colorado

I grew up in Florence, Colorado, which is just two hours south of Denver in Southern Colorado. Florence sits at the base of the wet mountains and isn’t too far from the majestic Sangre de Cristos that dominate the Southern part of Colorado. As a child, my mother was always making sure we were outside and actively doing things – meaning we ran through the town barefoot, played in ditches, and fished out crawdads, and let our imaginations get the best of us at the local library and swimming pool. We had quite the childhood when it came to exploring our small little town of Florence. When I was a ..read more

Glenwood Springs Tiny Home: Staying in a Tiny Getaway

The Tiny House movement is, by now, a well-known phenomenon: there are TV shows, books, YouTube videos, and everything in between. Like many, my boyfriend Garve and I are pretty hooked on the idea of having our own tiny house. Neither one of us are the traditional “have a house with a mortgage” types. I don’t like the idea of being tied down and Garve really can’t be bothered with anything outside of his computer desk. The ability to customize an entire space to our needs is appealing, with less money spent per square footage, and we could move it! We already signed on the imaginary dotted lin ..read more
