Pro Tip for your first year session: Choose a theme! It doesn’t need to be anything more than a color scheme if you want. But, if your grandparents own show cattle, you don’t have many choices other than to become a cowboy for the day! This little man did SO WELL with his first year session. His parents chose the collective when booking and knew a year in advance that they wanted something special for his birthday.
Copy his look for your little one’s birthday session! Gr ..read more

Pro Tip for your newborn or family session: Every now and then I have a newborn lifestyle session where I want to splash their images all over my house! It’s not too weird, right? I mean. It is my art. No, no… I’ll admit. Maybe it’s a little weird. But I honestly do love all of my clients and I should start working on a wall of them… somewhere!
One of my favorite questions I get is… “Where do we print these?”
I typically respond with, “In what medium? Prints, canvas, framed prints, acrylic?”
Once I have their choice, I can direct them to my favorite consumer outlets that provide exactly what ..read more

Pro Tip for your newborn session: Focus on neutrals! There are a lot of sessions where color is not only appropriate but much needed. I prefer using neutrals wherever possible but especially at your in home newborn baby session. Neutrals compliment everyone! When you’re holding your sweet, newborn baby in your arms and are standing near a large light source (such as a window) there is always the possibility that the colors from your shirt will cast color onto their face. If you’re wearing a neutral color, you won’t notice at all! This family flawlessly utilized neutrals and texture to create ..read more

Pro Tip for your family session: I host all of my outdoor sessions at a park in Franklin, Indiana. For most of my clients, that means that there could be a fair amount of travel involved. Travel times to the park can range from 15-45 minutes. Either way, I can promise the drive is worth it. Each of these images were taken during a 40 minute session. All of these were at the same location with short walks between each set. I’m proud to be a Greenwood family photographer and serve the community members of Greenwood, Indiana. It’s hard to beat the gorgeous tones and light that accompanies this p ..read more

Pro Tip for your baby’s cake smash session: It shouldn’t be difficult to find an Indiana cake smash photographer. What is more difficult is ensuring your baby will love the session! Textures are a funny thing to get used to! For some kids, they will not want to touch or taste the cake. To make the most of a first year cake smash session with me, I have some tips to make it as sooth as possible. In the few weeks leading up to the cake smash, encourage your baby to play in their food. I know it sounds counterproductive but the only way to get those shots of them smearing the cake everywhere and ..read more

Pro Tip for your family session: If you didn’t already know it, most kids don’t like to sit or stand and pose for an extended period of time. I don’t either! As an Indiana family photographer, I am always paying attention to your children’s cues. My sessions are made for adventure-loving families. At the field, we are constantly on the move. We stop for 2-5 minutes at each place, perfectly selected for the angles and light streams. I give them plenty of opportunities to run, explore, and run their own missions. At one point during the session, I will usually offer up an expedition to search f ..read more

Pro Tip for your newborn session: Some photographers offer an exclusive line of wardrobe for your session. Some Indy newborn photographers leave it all up to you. Some of those offer styling advice and help and some don’t. I’d like to think I hit a happy medium between all fo these options. I use Select & Style for all of my Indy newborn home sessions. Then, after utilizing this tool, I am available for further advice! I have also been known to go shopping in person with my clients as well as being available through text and email. I won’t leave you hanging for one of the most import ..read more

You deserve for your Indianapolis motherhood session to be everything you want and more! You want gorgeous images but, more than that, you need them to show your bond. While pretty colors, poses, and wardrobe goes a long way, your relationship with your child/ren is the most important aspect of a motherhood session. I have a different relationship with each of my children and the photography sessions that I love the most show the differences in them.
While I do not live in Indy, I do consider myself a part of the Indianapolis motherhood gang! Our favorite activities are downtown. With autumn ..read more
