Our trip to the Tangle Lakes this year was a trip in honor of Pudge Kleinkauf, the founder of Women’s Fly Fishing Alaska. It was such a pleasure to get to take a group of ladies back out to Tangle Lakes with her in mind! Our weekend included some very Alaskan weather, cloudy and rainy, but our ladies are tough Alaskans and were still eager to stay out all day catching fish regardless of the weather. The weekend consisted of a brief classroom style fly fishing 101 course, lanyard making activity, casting lessons, float tube, and walk and wade fishing throughout the Tangle Lake system ..read more

Anyone who has Fly Fishing fever knows how the excitement builds leading up to a big trip. I was nearly out of my mind prior, heading to Nome.
And with good reason. The N river holds an incredible volume of Grayling in all sizes and colors. The river is wide and crystal clear. Our fishing guide is a wonderfully funny, skilled and kind lodge owner with a long history in Nome and white mountain. His co-owner is his Super wife. We can count on some incredible Alaska native dishes while staying at the lodge.

The spring steelhead run this year on the Situk River was unlike most years. Low water levels and bright sunny days dominated the first few weeks of the run in April and we were told prior to our arrival it was t-shirt weather. Well, that all changed when the ladies of Women’s Flyfishing arrived!
We were greeted with cooler temps and five straight days of rain in the forecast. This was not my first rodeo on the Situk, and I was so excited for the rain! The theory being high water levels equals less spooking the fish and perhaps a little bit murkier water conditions might foo ..read more

This past March, eight ladies set out in the hopes of landing the most sought-after saltwater species on a fly rod: the trachinotus falcatus - otherwise known as Permit. To do so, they headed to the crystal-clear waters of Belize, staying at the remote fish camp of Cayo Frances Farm & Fly on the back side of Ambergris Caye. The camp's location allows anglers the options of fishing with a Belizean guide or challenging themselves with a ‘Do-It-Yourself’ walk on the flats or on a paddleboard.
