24" cruiser for old-guy racing

I believe that to get back into racing (age 52), I will soon purchase a 24" cruiser. It seems that there exist real racers such as the Haro Race lite Pro, as well as retro/fun bikes like the Monza 24 and Race Inc. 24. Do any of you know which bikes are actually being raced in USA BMX 50-55 age range? It seems like a modern racer would be the way to go, but with all the nostalgia surrounding BMX maybe not? I welcome any thoughts on this ..read more

Mongoose Brawler: Rebuild on non-drive side rear hub

Yeah, it's a cheap bike but I still would like to rebuild just the rear hub to get it going. All else is OK. I would like to find the parts diagram and the parts for the non-drive side rear hub. It looks like I need the bearing cover and the caged bearing. I found no cone adjustment on this side so the parts need to be exact. Without a cone adjustment I'm at a bit of a loss. I found an empty, deformed bearing cage on disassembly. Also the bearing cover is missing it's center. There is a cone and bearing on the drive side of the hub so bearing size on that side is not super-critical. The contac ..read more

Hello! I just have a couple questions about the right fork that I can use on my bike and what size of handle bars. To clear a couple of things I just want to say that I am very new to working on bikes. I've had a bike my entire life but they are more of Mountain bikes and I never really worked on them since I like messing around with cars more. I have a friend that got me into it because he had an old 80's bmx bike that I don't remember the name of and I loved riding it all of the time. One time I was over his dad came up to me and he had an old Raleigh frame with nothing on it. He said that h ..read more

I'm looking for some advice on getting a BMX bike. I'm 6' and about 180 lbs. I want to ride pump tracks and do some jumping - nothing crazy, but enough to have some fun on. I've been doing some research, but there are so many makes and models that I don't really know where to begin. Someone near me is selling a WeThePeople Atlas for $600, but a local bike shop has them for around $750, so I don't think $600 is much of a deal. I'd really like to get into the game for $200 - $300 for a good used bike, but that can be easier said than done. I saw a Redline Pro locally for $150, but the guy sold i ..read more

I rescued this bike from the dump today. Seems pretty cool to me, but I know nothing about BMXs Can anyone give me some more info about the bike, age, relative level of quality, etc? The rear end is kinda bent but i think it can straighten out. I'll probably overhaul/polish it, maybe delete the gyro. Wondering if it's worth throwing a bit of money at or just get it going to give to a kid ..read more

Need advise on bikes for kids.

New here and to BMX. I rode for a couple years when I was kid… a lot has changed since then. My kids just finished their first season this fall. Need some advise on bikes my 10 year old rode a vintage haro. 20 inch. Pretty heavy, single piece crank ultimately non buildable. He has a hard race up against kids with more experience and better bikes. My 6 year old rode a 16 inch we the people bike that I rented from the track every week. He should probably be on an 18 inch. I’m looking for advise on decent entry level bikes with frames that are worth building up over time without breaking the ban ..read more
