Does anyone know the reason or the significance of the buildings for the bombing of the area bordered by Bordesley Park Rd, Arden Rd and Garrison Lane near Tilton Rd. school? I was born in 1947 and all the area in Bordesley/Bordesley Green and Saltley was a wasteland tip or bombsite. Was it bombed and reduced to rubble? What sort of buildings originally stood There? I would be grateful for any information ..read more

This is the inside of the "Wellhead" on this photo.in the light coloured coat, front row, is my gran,the third lady to her right is G G Jeans nan. It was definately on the corner of Wellhead Lane,opposite Kynochs,in fact Jean said it is still there.There has been a photo.of it taken outside on the forum,but I couldn't find it. This gentleman's parents were Joseph BLACKHAM, a Fishmonger, and his wife Elizabeth Kidd (nee ROWLEY)........the father died in 1850 and mother re-married a William JACKSON in 1855. He had four siblings, Elizabeth born 1845, Alfred 1847, Bertha 1856 and Harry 1860. He spent a short time in Parkhurst Prison between 1859-1862. And that is the extent of my knowledge!!
