2020 was definitely a strange year that none of us will forget. We experienced a pandemic, police brutality, political debates and a series of unfortunate events. I lost my job, friendships and even thought I was losing my sanity at one point! While it was hard, I kept reminding myself that things would get better and to have faith that 2021 would be a year filled with healing. I can’t complain about the year too much because I’m lucky to have received many blessings along the way, but I see how the world has been affected, and it’s time that we all hit the RESET button. 2020 surely has been a rocky year and most of us are ready for it be over! When times get rough it’s easy to speak negatively over any and everything. Matter of fact, we talk to ourselves more than anyone else, so who’s hearing all the negativity? YOU! We are so used to tearing ourselves down about our appearance, actions and things that are out of our control that we don’t realize how it’s affecting our daily lives. Spirituality is a crucial part of self care so let’s dive into how faith affects your health When I created this blog, I asked myself what I wanted to discuss in my Self-Care section and it dawned on me that self care is more than just our physical and mental health. Our spiritual health plays a huge role in our wellness and I had to take it more seriously. I’m a christian and while I understand that my viewers have different religions and beliefs, there’s one thing that we all need to possess. FAITH. This strong trait can transform your thoughts to allow your mind and body to be at peace. I’m ..read more

So what exactly is a comfort zone?  You always know what to expect, and it gives you peace since you know it'll never change. In your comfort zone, you feel stress-free, and everything is easy. A comfort zone is a place that place of existence that you’re used to and it leaves you feeling comfy and warm.  Think of your comfort zone like your home. At the end of a long day, you just can’t wait to go back and relax in the place that gives you so much familiarity. You’ll go home, kick off your shoes right at the left of the door, you then trudge to your room, and toss your dirty clothes ..read more

How I’m Staying Strong Through Tough Times These past few weeks have been draining for me. The constant murders of Black men and women by the hands of police is enough to make anyone lose their minds. We’ve seen it continue these past few years, but the death of George Floyd, a man in Minneapolis who allegedly forged a check, has caused a major uproar around the U.S. This past weekend, peaceful protestors and rioters were flooding the cities to fight against police brutality and I’m 100% for the cause. How many Black lives have to be taken for police to start being charged for the crime they ..read more

Multiple studies show that heavy social media use increases your risk of depression, anxiety, loneliness and self-harm. May celebrates Mental Health Awareness Month, educating society about its causes, effects and ways to overcome this issue. Everyone has a season when they aren’t feeling like themselves or aren’t happy with their circumstances; but social media increases those thoughts daily. Earlier this year, I invited a few girlfriends over to make vision boards and I asked them to list three goals and a value. My value was mental health and self. Having a strong mind makes it easier to p ..read more

If you don’t feel like yourself right now, you are not alone. Every media outlet is slapping us in the face with updates every hour on the hour; so I’d be lying if I told you I wasn’t freaking out about this pandemic. It feels like I was just recovering from my New Years hangover and now I’m stuck in the house not knowing when we’ll get the green light to live freely again. According to BuzzFeed News, mental health experts are concerned for citizens that feel hopeless and scared. Unlike other disasters that typically bring us together, the virus forces us to practice “social distancing”, a ne ..read more
