Bosc Pear Cake In A Skillet

This is a yummy, dense cake that is best to make in the fall when Bosc pears appear in the produce aisle. Choose pears for this recipe that are ripe, but not too soft. The bosc pear gives the cake a unique flavor, so I would not recommend replacing the pear with apples. If you’re looking for a fancy cake with perfect presentable piece, this recipe is not for you. It’s a very moist cake that is similar to a cobbler. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease iron skillet with cooking spray. Cream together in mixer: 2 sticks softened butter 1 cup white sugar 1 cup brown sugar 2/3 cup sour cream 1 tsp ..read more

https://www.weber.edu/earlycollege/ Something that is not included in my resume is that I was enrolled in Weber State’s Early College Program in 1990 during my senior year of high school. My road to starting day one was not an easy one. I stumbled upon the program’s information and a college fair. There was a booth located at the end of a corridor that many people passed by. I took time to talk to the WSU Early College Enrollment Advisor sitting at that booth. I was interested in the nursing program at WSU. At the time, it was extremely competitive to be accepted and the process sometimes too ..read more

Cheesy Before & After Pic – June 2021/February 2022 What was my take away from following the Noom program for six months? Noom provided for me THE what, when, why and how of food and how it all related to my ideas and thinking. It helped me understand my thoughts and emotions about food and my body. Yes, Noom is a weight management program and that was my #1 reason for downloading the app. The app provides food recommendations, caloric guidance, etc. that are shared by other weight loss programs. But there is a bigger picture of what Noom is. Noom is centered on principles of psychology to ..read more

Fostering Social Emotional Learning In Young Minds

I distinctly recall my mom telling me that I couldn’t go to Kindergarten unless I knew all my ABC’s, count to 100, and recite my telephone number and address. I believed her, so I worked hard as I could and she helped me along the way. When I sent my daughter to school, I also pressed that she work hard to be ready to go to Kindergarten academically. In addition to being academically prepared for school, I also made sure that I planted seeds of character in her so she would be socially and emotionally able to get along and learn with others. As an educator, I have always believed in teaching ..read more

Personal Revelation LDS Talk

I had several people ask me for a copy of the talk I gave in Sacrament Meeting, so I thought I’d post it here. March 20, 2022 When I was asked to speak about personal revelation a couple of weeks ago, it gave me the opportunity to reflect upon my life choices and the experiences that I have gone through. I know for certain that many of the choices I have made as a mother, a wife, and an educator have been guided by my Heavenly Father. I know that I have not been behind the driver’s wheel alone. Receiving personal revelation takes some growth and experience to become comfortable with the conce ..read more

Bundling Up Helps Me Beat The Cold Winter Mornings As I Get Up To Exercise It’s winter, which means the days are short and the nights are long. I haven’t been diagnosed with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), but this time of the year is quite a struggle for me. It affects more women than men. I do not enjoy starting my day in the cold, dark morning and I definitely detest exercising on cold, dark mornings. Alaska is a state where I could never call home because it’s distance from the equator. As the sun sets down and is late to come up in the morning, I have had the tendency to oversleep in t ..read more

Joy To The World Christmas Theme

Christmas is a very big deal in our house. It begins the day after Thanksgiving when the first thing to come out of the high storage area in our garage are the multiple bins of Christmas decorations. To access the storage area, we have to pull out the cars and assemble the ladder to reach the built in rafters. One person climbs the ladder to the top, this job usually falls upon me since I am the shortest person in the family. I pull one bin and hand it off to my husband or one of me sons until all the decoration bins are on the garage floor. The outdoor decorations get set on the front porch ..read more

If you looking for something else to do while your staying in San Francisco and you’re doing a little sight seeing, the Red and White Fleet offers a great cruise around the bay….. even on a cloudy SanFrancisco day. The Red & White Fleet offers different cruises with different options and prices. I booked ahead with Viator because I didn’t know what to expect when we arrived. There are other booking websites and discounts online. Viator and the tour manager were really accommodating. We changed our cruise time 3 times and they had no problem helping us out ..read more

My Primary Friend

I lost one of my primary friends to cancer this morning. My husband told me Jaxton passed when I came home from school this afternoon. I was his nursery leader and then followed him to Sunbeams. Jaxton insisted on pulling a chair next to mine so he could help me teach every Sunday. He was smart, witty and told the best jokes. Jaxton liked to come up to me into the library and say, “Why aren’t you my teacher anymore?” He’d giggle and say, “I know why…..you can’t find anyone better than me to teach.” I told him he was right every time. He was able to “Make A Wish”, throw the first pitch at a Be ..read more
