A more elevated view of MRI

A patient reported that she was getting an MRI so a doctor could look for something that might be wrong in her. I thought about the term MRI for a moment.  I knew it was an acronym for Magnetic Resonance Imaging, but that was not a helpful term for metaphysical reasoning.  It focused on matter, rather than on Spirit.   I listened a bit longer. M.R.I.  Mind’s Reflected Image.  Aw, now that is a helpful concept to ponder, I decided.  Mind’s Reflected Image is an image of God’s spiritual man where there is only the goodness of God to observe and see. Paying taxes with gratitude

It’s Tax Day in the United States. Oh joy! I know few neighbors who look forward to April 15th, except tax accountants whose heavy workload lets up the next day.  They look forward to a breather.  But for everyone else, the day is often dreaded for the expense it brings.   How to keep a positive attitude about this yearly ritual? I find inspiration in recalling Jesus’ statement to inquirers asking about paying taxes to Caesar, the leader of the Roman government lording over their territory at the time.   Jesus said, “Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give ..read more

Move out of the wilderness

Are you having a wilderness experience?  Perhaps you’re wrestling with doubt, uncertainty and fear about your future, wondering what’s coming next.  Will it be good, maybe ominous; you’re not sure. If so, it’s time to move thought into a better place.  It’s time to reason your situation from a spiritual point of view. Mary Baker Eddy begins a definition of wilderness, listed in the glossary of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, as “Loneliness; doubt; darkness.”   Loneliness, doubt and darkness feel real to a material sense of things, but fortunately, they a ..read more

Faith in good is more potent than faith in evil

Jesus Christ said, “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you” (Matthew 17:20).One way I interpret this statement is to see that the smallest amount of faith in the goodness of God is infinitely more powerful than the largest amount of faith in evil. Why? Because evil is not the power it claims to be. God is the only power.A “mountain of evil” is nothing compared to any sense of good, no matter how small it appears ..read more

Stand up for your rights

Do you stand up for your rights? If you own an acre of ground, and a neighbor decides to dump their garbage on your land, do you stand by and let it happen? Or do you exercise your right to defend the integrity of your property and take steps to protect it from being abused? Most likely, you would take steps to defend the sanctity of your property. That’s what caring property owners do.The same rule applies to defending the body from unwanted “dumping” of mortal mind. At times, it seems like mortal mind is busy “dumping” reasons to suffer into our experience. The reasons may come in the ..read more

Yield to the infinite

The finite must yield to the infinite. ~ Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 256 Wow!  What an amazing fact to understand and demonstrate.   The finite has no choice but to yield to the infinite. Which means, lack yields to abundance. Limitation yields to limitlessness. An attitude of “I can’t do it,” yields to “I can do it.” Wrong yields to right. Error yields to Truth. Hate yields to Love. Anxiety yields to trust. Ignorance yields to knowledge. Fear yields to peace. Matter yields to Spirit. The finite is nothing compared to the infinite. &n ..read more

What are you aware of

We experience what we are aware of. To be aware of good, is to lose a sense of evil. To be aware of Love, is to lose a sense of hatred and anger. To be aware of peace, is to lose a sense of disturbance. To be aware of health, is to lose a sense of disease. To be aware of Life, is to lose a sense of death. To be aware of God, is to be aware of reality.  To be aware of reality, is to lose a sense of unreality. To be aware of Truth, is to lose a sense of error. Be aware of God, aware of Truth, aware of Spirit.  It’s the happiest, healthiest place for thought to be ..read more

Nurture spiritual mindedness rather than laziness
SpiritView » Healing

I was talking with a patient about putting in some effort to nurture her spiritual growth. “That sounds like hard work,” she protested. “I’m too lazy to do that.” We conversed more about the benefits that come from staying spiritually minded, and she decided that perhaps it would be worth her while to study and pray. After putting in some time of consecrated study and prayer, she reported feeling much better. “Prayer pays off!” She was happy to report. The sensation of laziness can be very misleading. To the dull mortal mind, it seems perfectly acceptable to not do anything worthwhile. Thought ..read more
