Automotive • Bonded polyester color assortment bobbins.

I have a Pfaff 545 and 1245 which use the same bobbin as do many other walking foot machines. I would like to buy a color assortment of bobbins that use bonded polyester thread. I normally sew with bonded polyester #92 per John's recommendation so I want to stay with that thread. I have looked at every source I can find but don't see anything listed anyplace. I would prefer #92 thread but would settle for slightly lighter thread to get a color assortment. Don't use much but black and white but when I need a colored bobbin thread it would be nice to not have to wind a bobbin. Thanks for any hel ..read more

What do you use for auto carpet? I'm in the middle of choosing a carpet material, and am leaning towards an unbacked type because it is supposed to be easier to mold to the cars floor. There are several different kinds available, so would appreciate anybody with experience doing auto carpets chiming in on their preference. When making new cushions, and say the foam is 4" thick, 44" long and 22" wide. Should I make the vinyl cover the size of the foam, or should I make the cover a 1/2" smaller on the thickness all the way around? Problem I am having is cover is a bit loose when finished. How do some of you furniture folks cut your patterns? Statistics: Posted by LLeeT — Mon Mar 18, 2024 11:44 pm — Replies 3 — Views 72 ..read more

Beginner Questions • Trouble connecting cushion back to chair back

In one picture you see the wooden cushion back of an office chair with fives holes cut out. In the other picture you see the chair back with three inserts/prongs/clips that get inserted into the holes of the cushion back so that the cushion is mounted onto the chair. What are those three plastic inserts/prongs/clips called? They seem to be very worn and it's not seating into the holes properly for a flush fit. ch2.jpg (1)Chair.jpg Statistics: Posted by UngarLinski — Sun Mar 17, 2024 8:05 am — Replies 0 — Views 92 ..read more

Automotive • Some tips that have helped me

The attached pics show a couple of things I have learned, from this forum and other places. What I did on the seam allowance magnetic measuring tip was add a washer with half of the outer edge painted white and the other half another color (orange). This allows me to sight down the washer and be very accurate. The chalk sharpening tips is just common sense really. Just find a pencil sharpener for large pencils and go to it. You can get a point that is very sharp , as sharp as a Sharpie (no pun intended). I use chalk for quick lines when there will not be a lot of handling of the piece/area. I ..read more
