What do you want to be saved from?

WHat do you want to be saved from when you first believed in Jesus? It seems to me that when many people said they believed and get saved, they usually just wants to be saved from hell only. Do you just want to be saved from hell when you believe, or do you want to be saved from something else ..read more

How Does One Evangelize?

A big problem with today's evangelism is people are declared saved when there is no change, or if truly saved (for only God knoweth), the change is slow, and slight, and so miniscule. The scripture is clear the true elected believer will show fruit and bear fruit; they will be a new creature in Christ, they will deny themselves, they will put on the new man which is after righteousness, they will not sin, and they will love the brethren. If not, their salvation may be in question, and... Read more ..read more

Seventh Day Baptists

What can you tell me about Seventh Day Baptists? I know that they worship on, but that's all I know. Ready To Harvest's video about them cleared up some things for me. I'm a Southern Baptist, but I diverge from the denomination in that I actually agree with the Seventh Day Baptists on Saturday being the Sabbath. My concern is that they might be a little to "big tent," even moreso than the SBC on certain issues. They also don't believe in a pre-tribulational rapture. While I don't care... by Joel Beeke, from Holiness Chapter 6: Holiness in Practice Today: The Church’s and Our Greatest Need a. Its necessity and inducements These are at least ten in number for God’s people. 1. God has called you to holiness. “For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness” (1Th 4:7). Whatever God calls us to, is necessary. His call itself should... Read more ..read more

Trembling at the Word of the Lord (Spurgeon)

From his message by that name: "He that knows the Lord aright also trembles with fear lest he should break God’s law. He sees what a perfect law it is, and how spiritual it is, and how it overlaps the whole of human life, and the man cries, “‘It is high, I cannot attain unto it’ (Psa 139:6); O my God, help me, I pray Thee.” He views the law with reverence. He admires with a sacred fear. He trembles at God’s Word, not because he dislikes it, but because he cannot bear to be so... Read more ..read more

Perpetuity of the Law: Spurgeon

I. The Perpetuity of the Law For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle, shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. —Matthew 5:18 It has been said that he who understands the two covenants is a theologian; and this is, no doubt, true. I may also say that the man who knows the relative positions of the Law and of the gospel has the keys of the situation in the matter of doctrine. The relationship of the Law to myself... Independent Baptists?

Any Independent Baptists around? I've attended these churches and find the preaching strait to the point, very little or no doctrinal confusion (compared to some Charismatic churches), and repentance, conviction of sin, sanctification, and the Lord's return are stressed often, with of course Jesus Christ and His blood shed on the cross being the ONLY way to be saved ..read more

Wednesday Bible Study

Hi all, back after awhile, and an idea I thought I'd have would be to do notes for everyone at a Bible study I attend every Wednesday at a Baptist Chapel. Bible study this evening was great and with a twist- a visiting pastor came and he was from my wife's Country- Zambia! Was a great laugh when he detected my wife was a fellow Zambian and they had a exchange in Bemba! The visiting pastor took us to the book of Acts and the events there to show how God uses broken people to his glory-... Read more ..read more

Waiting on God (trust)

Face your fears. Debate your doubts and dis your disbeliefs. Wise words. I realize I need to get to church. I also need to practice self care. But as far as disbelief, I feel as if I need to do something about my life's work. I feel I can't let another year go by with little effort. At this point I write only a few lines a day, and have started another small practice. But what about trusting God? What does this mean? I've struggled for years to show up and serve fulltime and lately I've... Read more ..read more
