This is the word I choose to use when I consider the next phase in a persons life as they move from the work they may have done and are now considering what this season of their life looks like. This may be a time when you get to examine your life and consider forgotten passions that may not have been served yet or a love of learning that you haven’t had time for. How can you create a blueprint for this u turn in your life I call rewirement? The majority of people choosing to “retire” have already considered their ROI – return on investment; however they may not have given much thought ..read more

“Breathe just Breathe”

I just came from my yoga class which I love. My teacher is always telling us to do what is right for our particular body, that we know our own bodies. I like that reminder. She also reminds us as we are in a particular pose to check in if we are breathing! LOL often times I am not! I am concentrating so hard on the pose I forget to breathe. Each time she says it to remind us I smile. So interesting how we can forget the most important thing to do! BREATHE!  Breathing is essential to life, it plays a vital role in regulating our physical and emotional states. Whenever my children were o ..read more

“It Is What It Is”

There‘s a lot of wisdom in the phrase “it is what it is.” It‘s a reminder that we can‘t always control what happens in life, but we can control how we react to it. Life can be unpredictable, and things don’t always go as planned. We often hear people say “it is what it is” to express acceptance of a situation that they cannot change. This phrase has become a popular cliché, but it holds a deeper meaning that can help us cope with the ups and downs of life.  There’s a lot of wisdom in the phrase “it is what it is.” It‘s a reminder that we can‘t always control what happens in life ..read more

ReWirement vs ReTirement
Life Coach New York

As a certified retirement coach I often meet clients who are either about to retire or are thinking about it. Re-Tire-ment is a worn out word. It no longer applies to the next phase of life. It is exactly as it sounds – tired! Todays boomers want to RE-Wire not Re-tire. So what does that look like and how do we get there? Most people consider their finances when they are thinking about their next phase of life. What will the ROI (return on investment) be when they decide to leave their current vocation? However, I find that most have not thought about their ROL (return on life) quotient! Wh ..read more

“The good life is built on good relationships” Robert Waldinger We all want to be happy. As a positive psychology practitioner people often think I am happy all the time. This is not true; however, I have built a strong foundation, solid relationships and I have tools which help me to be resilient when life throws me curve balls. I just listened to Robert Waldinger discuss his book the Good Life and how we can build our social fitness. Social fitness is a lot like physical fitness – you don’t just do it once and you are done, it takes practice and continued effort. Relationships take time ..read more

Humble Gratitude

As we are approaching the holiday season, beginning with Thanksgiving, I am reflecting on where I was last year at this time and how it will be going forward. I honestly feel like I am taking 2 steps forward and then 5 steps back as I am trying to navigate the world “living” with Covid. Coming out of the pandemic, so to speak, as we still watch what’s ahead with the colder months in the Northeast and the holiday traveling, I can reflect on things I learned about myself and how I won’t live my life the same again. I already had some inkling that I could not control things, life itself had ta ..read more

Letting Go

The Fall season is a beautiful time of year to get outside and feel nature doing its thing. I love walking and crunching through the leaves on the ground. Sometimes I just stand in awe as the sun shines through the golden, red leaves changing colors right before they fall to the ground. I love to watch the leaves dancing in the wind and then a gust of wind comes releasing many into the air to float down like golden stars. I then wonder what is it I would like to release and let go of now? Just like the season it is a good time to consider what is no longer serving me and how should I let it ..read more

Roller Coaster

It feels as if I/we have been on a roller coaster, with a bit of whiplash, now in the pandemic. Delta is surging in certain places and the communication, in my opinion, is garbled to say the least. For me, intuitively, wearing masks, getting my vaccine, washing my hands frequently, and avoiding crowded indoor spaces feels right. I know I want to protect myself and others around me. I know I cannot control the world or external circumstances but I can choose what I believe would be best for me, my loved ones safety and my community.  Most people, me included, want to get back to life. A life well lived – so far!

A life Well Lived….So Far! As I came to a milestone birthday recently, I decided to spend some time in reflection and honoring a life well lived. We can honor ourselves in many ways. I have come to this time in my life where I am seeing that I am accepting all parts of myself, the good, the bad, the perfect, the imperfect, the disappointments, and the triumphs. I am trying to live my life now around what is most sacred and important to me. Honoring myself means putting myself first for a change – which really doesn’t come easy to me – I am more of a natural caregiver. But in putting m ..read more

What is your superpower?
Life Coach New York
by Eva Centeno

In positive psychology we begin with looking at what your strengths are. I always ask my clients to begin by taking the free character strengths survey on https://www.viacharacter.org so they can see out of the 24-character strengths what are their top 5. We use our top 5 with ease and often take them for granted when we should be looking at how we use them, are we overusing them, or are their creative ways we can think to use them. I love this assessment and think it is one of the best ways to understand them and incorporate them into our lives. Now I am asking what is your superpower? &nb ..read more
