Unfortunately when it comes to the ‘School Play’ only a limited number of pupils can take part, so when it came to arranging a public performance to play to peers and parents, I always tried to make sure that every student had an equal part to play in the programme.
In one particular year I was fortunate enough to have a group of students who enjoyed singing, dancing and playing instruments as well as their Speech & Drama lessons. So we devised a programme to incorporate all these elements.

Some hints for candidates:
Check all paperwork and requirements, for instance for sending copies of your texts. Make sure your copies are complete and fulfil requirements, e.g. photocopies of the original published work, not hand-written or typed, and that they showing any cuts or emendations clearly. If a copy is missing, assessment will be delayed.
Make sure you have read the specifications clearly and have prepared all the required elements.
Decide when and how you will video your demonstration, and get the whole of your programme ready, because you will be required to film it in one take ..read more

After many phone calls, re-reading the new policies sent by my examining board and armed with laminated signs, blu-tac, antibacterial spray, mask and visor, I set off for north London one day last July. I was surprised at how nervous I felt at venturing into the unknown, to face the big wide world that had changed so much since the beginning of March. What with Lockdown 1, as it became, and then staying close to home under the eased summer restrictions, this journey was the furthest I had driven for months.
