Problem with physical AirBNB gift card redemption online or did I get scammed? [USA]

yesterday I picked up an AirBNB gift card from Lowes and added $300 to it for an upcoming trip. Today I tried to add it to my account and I first got an error message. I did not make a note of the exact error message because the card print is so tiny I assumed I must have mistyped it. When I tried it a second time it said it had already been redeemed. I checked my account and it wasn't added to my gift card balance. I used the chat to talk to support and after sending them all the info, they said "Our engineers are already working to fix it, so hopefully it won’t take too long to resolve it ..read more

Compensation for scam booking [vietnam]

A few weeks ago I contacted airbnb about a booking I had coming up saying that it seemed a bit dodgy - no reviews for a couple of years. They reassured me it was all fine, guaranteed it was a legit booking. I've just arrived and, lo and behold, it appears to have been closed for a while. I'm just waiting for airbnb to "try and contact the host." all the other listings in town that are available immediately are more expensive. I'll also probably be unable to get one I want tonight so I'll have to pay for a hotel, then a cab to my new place tomorrow... What kind of compensation can I expect/sho ..read more

Question about private room rental [USA]

I booked a room in a home for 3 nights and knew it was a loft. What I didn't know was that: there was not a door separating the space from the rest of the house and more importantly, that this host rents out another room on Airbnb (with a door). So I arrived, checked in, and found out that another airbnb guest would be sleeping in the house, in a room right at the foot of the stairs leading up to the door-less loft where I was staying. Looking at the "What is considered a room?" page on the airbnb site, it clearly states that "The space listed is a bedroom, with a door, that is intended to ..read more

Host for upcoming trip does not have access to Airbnb?? [USA]

So I have an upcoming reservation for an Airbnb may 2-5. When I try to look at the hosts account it does not load, and when I look at the automatic messages from when I reserved it(months ago) it says that the message has been hidden because this person (the host) no longer has access to Airbnb. My account still says I’m all good to go for my reservation and charged my card for it yesterday. Does this mean it will get cancelled last minute and I’ll be screwed? Any advice on how to make sure I have a place to stay a week from now? submitted by /u/Ok-Type-5665 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Am I being overcharged for property damages? [USA]

I am wondering if I'm being overcharged. I stayed at an AIRBnB last week to meet up with a friend I haven't seen in a long time. After I pulled into the driveway, I was going to back up and fix myself because I was a little too close and wasn't straight. My fiancee dropped my wallet by my feet and in the moment I wasn't thinking clearly and I didn't realize I hadn't put the car in park yet and i tried to reach for the wallet so I lifted off the break a little and it struck the back fence on the right hand side. It wasn't the whole fence, just the right side in the back where the back driveway ..read more

Hello everyone, Thank you so much for your help with this. I'm going on a family trip in two weeks. The host reached out to me and let me know that due to maintenance our Airbnb is no longer available. She provided us with a few other options but they are essentially smaller and cannot accommodate my family of 10. I let her know this and she is unwilling to give me a refund. This is especially troubling as we have had this planned and pre paid for quite some time now. What should I do to receive the refund? she is giving me a really hard time as you can see in the added link. https://imgur.com ..read more

Finding units within a given distance from a location? [USA]

Hi all, tldr I have to stay within 60 minutes of Manhattan for 3 weeks next year, as I recover from surgery. I would like to search for all the listings that meet this requirement (and have 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, and are wheelchair accessible.) I am not finding an easy way to do that kind of search - is there any way to do that easily? or am I stuck playing spreadsheet math with google maps and doing it manually? I am trying to not break the bank here but to do that w/ my very specific set of needs I need to look at as many options as possible. Thanks in advanced! submitted by /u/Speak-MakeL ..read more

Questions for airbnb renters...is this unreasonable? [USA]

Would you stay somewhere you can't flush any toilet paper in? I was staying at a airbnb with my boyfriend where there was a sign not to flush any TP. Instead, it was expected we'd throw it away in the small trashcan with no lid. This could be a potential issue going #2 and smells and discreetness. Would yall want to know ahead of time? Would yall still book? Am I unreasonable to expect the cleaning fee to cover any small amount of dishes to taking out the trash? I'm always bugged that it ask for me as a renter to do that when there's a heftly cleaning fee. Edit: the airbnb booking for ..read more

Separate modems / internet service for multiple units at a single address? [USA]

We have multiple units at a single address which we would like to rent independently. Currently, a single modem and router combo supplies WIFI to both units. I would feel better if each unit housed it's own internet source. Has anyone else investigated this possibility? A cursory google search suggests each unit requires unique mailing addresses for independent ISP, but it's unclear and I know nothing about how networks work. I will have to ask Comcast eventually, they are just so difficult to communicate with without visiting a physical location. submitted by /u/soggycd [visit reddit] [comm ..read more
