when my husband and i were homeless, we had jobs and were able to afford nightly airbnb stays. We never had bad experiences before this stay but the host was a 30 year old young woman. we had a nice convo when i booked the stay, she told me to read her rules as i did and that was that. about an hour later she was bugging me, triple messaging me on when my eta would be and i told her i was almost done with work and my guest and i would be approaching soon. I quickly learned she was so adamant on learning when i’d be there because she had her own set of rules to tell me that were not mentioned ..read more

Hello, I am beginning as a host on Airbnb. One of my guest, gave me a bad review because he was coughing (flat in Paris) and said that their should be dust in my flat so my flat is dirty. I am using a professional service cleaning and the few other review that I had are good. I am afraid it will gave a bad image of my flat for future guests. What should I do to improve it ? Thanks a lot,

Hello, I'm having trouble finding a straight answer to this online. If I buy a property to rent out on AirBnb under an LLC that I start, am I still able to us that property to stay in for my own personal vacations? Thank you.

So, I may be over thinking. I rented an airBnB for a month. We’re moving and we’re between houses for a month. We don’t have enough luggage to pack a months worth of clothes. I’m thinking about just putting it in trash bags because why not. I’m nervous the house will have cameras, see us waking in with a bunch of trash bags and think we’re fucking weirdos. Am I over thinking or is this a valid concern?
I’m super nervous about this stay, I’ve heard stories (and seen posts here) about hosts blaming people for damages that weren’t there fault. It’s three bedroom house with a yard with a hot tub ..read more

I rented my house on AirBnB in 2022. I eventually crossed the 30,000 threshold and registered for GST. After that, I should have supplied AirBnB with my GST number, but didn’t realize, so they kept collecting and remitting GST on all my bookings. How do I fix this? Am I on the hook for all the GST?

Hello Community. I recently stayed in an Airbnb and melted aluminum foil to the bottom of the oven. The host is claiming a total loss and is requesting the full price that they paid for the oven two years ago. They are also including payment for the extended warranty and a special plug adapter. I’m curious to hear what your thoughts are on a reasonable replacement reimbursement request for an item that is two years old. I reviewed current pricing for the same item and it is at least $600 less than what the host is requesting. Curious to hear any feedback. Thanks.!

Pictures as well, and especially of any problematic areas/ items.
Begin filming when you walk onto the property and when you enter. If there is a yard or pool, or anything else you have access to as an amenity, that also. The more detailed the better, even include inside, closets, cabinets, etc. Floors, rugs, try to get everything. It seems like a pain, but you will be 100% covered if hosts try to make up nonsense and pin it on you for $$$.
Be sure you get yourself leaving/ locking the door, etc.
So much stress, hassle, and potentially money could be saved this way. (Same for house/ apt renta ..read more

Booked spot with hot tub in New Orleans. When we show up we find a camera directly above the door but pointing directly at the hot tub. The hot tub did not work. We asked them to come look at it (Nola requires a 1 hour response but they took ~48) and required excessive follow up. They told us they were waiting on a part. We then asked for a refund because the reason we booked the place was for a hot tub. They didn’t get back to us for another 6 hours. We then requested 50% off (consistent with market rate for similar units without a hot tub) and they offered $150 for our entire week stay (clo ..read more
