This is the (working) prologue for my upcoming book, Viewer as Protagonist.
PROLOGUE: ON THE PURPOSE OF OUR ART
Life.
It has come to the attention to many in the wedding film industry that there are two sides to our profession. Art and business. The latter has a strong appeal to both newcomers and the advanced wedding professional for its highlighting of, let’s say it outright, commercialism. The business of our profession is in exchanging their value (money) for our value (work). The art of our profession is our refined work. Sequentially put, if increased commerce is our goal, the increase ..read more

Good morning my friends,
In this video I want to share my journey of building my first home. I know with Canada's current economic state, buying a home is a big commitment in many ways. It was a massive step for me. Especially since I had always lived in the city and rented rooms with housemates. But, as I grow, I really felt the need to find my own way and focus on the space I need. This is why and how I built my home in the forested mountains of Canada.
FACTORS:
First thing I did was consider a lot of factors when deciding where to build my home, including my introverted and calm per ..read more

Realizing This After 8 (9 now) of Filming Wedding
Sometimes, the life of a wedding filmmaker or general wedding vendor gets romanticized. On social media, we see them at parties every weekend, or even multiple times a week. That's what drew me in in the beginning– being surrounded by fun and exciting times while getting to flex my own creativity in art and business.
But today I want to talk about some of the behind-the-scenes mentality that doesn't really get spoken about: Acceptance. Accepting who you are.
Hi everyone, if you're new here, my name is Aaron and I'm a wedding filmmaker i ..read more

Capturing the Wedding Energy at Sandos Playacar: An Adventurous Wedding Video in Playa Del Carmen
Last year, I had the utmost pleasure of joining my dear friends on their destination wedding.
I remember driving in the cold, crispy Ontario air in March 2022 and hearing my phone ring. It was my good high school friend Nick. I knew he was engaged, having met his new fiancée over facetime a year prior, so I had a feeling it had to do with his wedding ;)
When I first spoke with them in 2021, they were on the fence about hiring me as a videographer. But on this 2022 call, I was super excited ..read more

Thank you Peerspace
Last week was the end of January, and I realized I hadn't written any real solid goals for the year. I have my general lifestyle goals, but then I started to get a little more specific with what I would love to achieve this year.
I wrote down how I wanted to be a little more recognized for the hard work that goes on behind a wedding day production. Sure, to get my filmmaking in front of more people, but also to help recognize the hard work that my couples/wedding planners/designers/florists/caterers/venues put into a wedding day. It is never just about me, but I woul ..read more
