We have never really been ones to shy away from travel opportunities with Bear, so when we got the opportunity to take him to his 5th state, we jumped at it! And actually, it was also a new one for me. So we made our way on the new nonstop Breeze flight from Charleston, South Carolina to Charleston, West Virginia! When we arrived, we drove straight to our little cabin to let Bear nap. It was a nice morning flight so by the time we made it to Elkins, he was ready for some shut eye. We then took the rest of the day walking around the property where we were staying and also headed to downtown E ..read more

I’m so excited to share our 2020 Christmas Card photos! This card is especially meaningful to me because it’s our very first Christmas card. EVER! Last year in 2019 we thought briefly about sending one, but with our wedding being just around the corner after Christmas we decided we had way too much on our plate to even think about putting one together. (Not to mention, we were a little late getting our wedding invitations out, so if we had managed to get a card ready it probably wouldn’t have made it to everyone until about Mid-January). I’m so happy with how these turned out! Knowing the ri ..read more

2019-2020 Book Recommendations

Over the past year, I’ve been cheating on reading with writing! I usually can read up to 15+ books a year, but I was working on writing my own novel, so over the past year or so I have only read 8 books. However, they have all been amazing, so I’m really excited to share them! I’m definitely a mystery person, but this year my horizons were actually broadened a bit with some YA and classics. After you get through these, be sure to check out my other post here with a much longer list of the books I read in 2014-2019. #1. The Great Gatsby Obviously, this book doesn’t need much of a review. Turn on your JavaScript to view content When it comes to everyday makeup, I’m all about the neutrals! And when the fall and winter seasons come around, I always update my normal routine and products to include darker shades for my eyeshadows and lips, and lighter shade for face makeup like foundation, blush, and bronzer to match my increasingly paler skin. Nordstrom is my go-to spot for the high quality beauty products I purchase over and over! Once I find a makeup product that I LOVE, I always come back to it every time. I’ve been using this Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation for over 4 yea ..read more

Turn on your JavaScript to view content Brent and I are coming up on 3 months as newly-weds, and it has been such an incredibly special time for us. Knowing he will come home to me every day makes me so happy, and we have really settled into our first apartment together! We have both worked really hard designing our living room space with furniture and decor that works for both of our tastes, and finally I felt like it was far enough along for us to share! The rest of the apartment is a work-in-progress that I’ll share down the road. Even though this isn’t going to be our forever home, I stil ..read more

Three Looks for the Perfect Rehearsal Dinner at Charleston’s Merchants Hall

When we started looking for the location to have our Rehearsal Dinner, Brent and I knew we wanted something that was very Charleston. You know, something historic, beautiful, Southern, and classic, where our guest would step in and feel instant Southern Charm. We couldn’t have found a more perfect spot than Merchants Hall. Merchants Hall is an incredible circa-1856 building with rich history and still features original exposed brick and wood columns. It overlooks Charleston’s historic City Market, and is in one of the most bustling and beautiful areas in downtown Charleston. The historic fea ..read more

29th Birthday Thoughts: 8 Lessons I’ve Learned

It’s my last year in my twenties, and I feel freaking insane. It’s not necessarily a good or bad feeling, it’s more of a confused feeling. How did I get here so fast, and why don’t I feel more different? I’ve been thinking this week a lot about the phrase young at heart. As you get older, do you ever actually become a different person? Like, an adult? Or do you just slowly turn into a wiser, more well-rounded and grown-up version of the same person? I used to to think that at some point, around this time in my life, actually, that some kind of light switch would flip and POOF I’d suddenly be ..read more

Brent told me that technically this shouldn’t be called an “engagement” shoot, since we got engaged nearly a year ago and have already done photos, but I’m still going to call it that I’m always up for a reason to wear a pretty dress, and I really wanted to do a shoot in downtown Charleston with the classic cobblestone streets and historic buildings. I’m so glad we had a nice long engagement! It has made the wedding planning so much easier, and it’s given me the opportunity to plan fun things like this shoot. I’m so excited to introduce y’all to Lunss Custom Couture; the amazing company I wo ..read more
