Did a lot of research but this cart practically fell into my lap when I was re-checking Amazon prices on two other carts I was interested in. Never heard of this company but with Amazon's still mostly generous free return policy, why not ? I bought my last surf rod that way, saved 30%, figuring that even if the packaging was minimal, and it came damaged, I could always take the mile long journey to a local Kohls to return it. Amazon may be the main way to buy this particular cart...

I currently have a Suspenz End Cart but while it is great for wheeling the 12' 8" Hurricane Skimmer yak to wherever, it needs to be taken back to the truck before paddling off.
A put-in that I want to use is an 1/8 of a mile from the parking lot and I do not feel comfortable leaving the yak and my fishing stuff to the goblins. Hell, even my usual spot which allows me to park within a hundred feet of the put-in sees me leaving the paddle in the truck bed and never unattended with the...

Asking for a friend. Really !
After leaving me flat in Matzohpizza and both of us selling our stinkboats 2 and 3 years ago, he is now exploring the possibilities of kayak fishing the sound in his area around Ridge/Rocky Point and seems to feel Port Jeff might be his best option. Yes he is a tiny bit older than I, but in terrific and much better shape, bicycling and walking miles daily. Besides access (as in what is available for a put in ) he questions whether he needs a pedal yak to...

another thread in another forum has me pondering a certain situation on the bay. I mainly fish the channels marked by the 5mph zones but motorboats (as I did when I boated) literally fly be just to the outside of the buoys. Even with the higher waves from the wakes, I usually float right over them broadside, and only occasionally have a "washover" which is welcome on a hot July morning. My pondering involves "riding" one of those wakes. This is the only time I have ever felt really...

Wondering what my fellow paddlers (and pedalers) enjoy the quiet with. While readily admitting that I go the "barebones" route when it comes to kayak fishing, and without making this a poll, what can you tell me about your "ride"? I will go first to give you an idea where I am going with this and add anything I missed, please.
Make and model: Hurricane Skimmer 128
Length and Weight: 12' 8" 50lbs with seat
Color: Bright orange
Method of propulsion...

Kayakers Rescued. I'm not sure how they end up in that situation but this was obviously serious.
In August, while patrolling Captree State Park to ensure anglers are in compliance with recreational saltwater fishing guidelines, ECO Perkins monitored a call over the New York State Park Police (NYSPP) radio reporting three kayakers overturned and in the water near the main fishing pier. Officer Perkins responded, along with members of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), NYSPP, and Suffolk County...

Copied from another site:
After reading the many accounts on this site of paddlers killed and rescued on this site, along with the innumerable warnings to others, I realize that enough is enough. It’s time we institute common sense kayak control legislation. People simply can’t be trusted to exercise their own good judgement and enjoy watersports responsibly. I think we can all agree its time to pass common sense legislation to regulate the sport of kayaking. My proposed common sense...

It used to be that I stowed away my kayak gear sometime in late November (or early December even) and even if I stuffed everything into a closet “rode hard and put up wet,” invariably in the spring I’d devote a week to gearing up again. The hardware, accessories and apparel all changed as my kayak fishing evolved through the years, but the need for a complete equipment check remains a vital part of any kayak fisherman’s annual maintenance routine. Back in the day, I’d use the Jamaica Bay...

Last season for the first time, SWMBO and I tried fluke fishing off the Perception Tribe 13.5 tandem, but it was way too choppy and windy by the time we got out. Being a 2014 model, the Tribe had no hatches or rodholders so today I put a nice 8" Andasson hatch on it just behind the forward seat and just ordered a pair of flush mount rod holders for it although unfortunately they might not fit very well if at all because of the Tribe's layout. For the hatch I used a drill hole for my jig...
