So I just picked up a Native Slayer Max 10 that I'll be bringing down to Perdido to fish the bay/nearshore. What's a good fishfinder/reef locater/map that's lightweight and easy to use on a kayak? Don't need anything that reads 500' down as I'll be nearshore but I would like something that shows the artificial reefs/depth etc. Any recommendations would be great.
Thanks ..read more

Last weekend I launched over the sand at County Road 393 in Santa Rosa Beach and paddled out to the Ed Walline artificial reef. Caught a ~27" Gag, ~24" Amberjack, 2 small Spanish and a lot of Sand Perch and a few Blue runners that I used for bait. I want to go somewhere else this weekend but not sure where ..read more

I'm thinking about planning an overnight tent camping trip to Fort Mcrae. I'd like to paddle there, but don't know any good places to put in and leave my truck. I know Ft. Pickens won't allow you to park there without an expensive overnight parking pass.
Also, I've never been there before so I don't know what the area looks like. Is there any fort left there? Where is the best (or most scenic) camping area?
We are looking to fish for our dinner. Any tips? I am under the assumption...

Currently use a perception outlaw for rivers in middle TN. Looking to get back to the 10.5' sz with pedal for perdido key bay/gulf fishing. I come down here 2-3 wks a yr. Most of these are 12' plus but I wanted one a little more manageable to haul around.
Thanks ..read more

Just picked up this trailer for a future kayak purchase. Currently has 4.80 - 8 wheels/tires which are 16" tall. I will inspect them closely tm in the daylight, but I'm betting they are pretty old. The trailer can take a few more inches in diameter under the fenders. What is the next larger tire I should consider? It seems these 8" wheel/tire combos are generally only rated to 62mph which is disappointing. I can't see any advantage to running a slightly taller tire in this instance.
