Cattleya rot

I’ve probably lost about six plants over the course of this year to this form of rot. It’s fairly slow to develop but eventually kills the plant. It usually starts on a new growth, often as the bulb is developing. We are fairly low on chemicals In the UK compared to others. Anybody hazard a guess as to a cure? All I can do at present is cut the plant rhizome as soon as I see it but it rarely stops it. The rot seems to have travelled through the plant before symptoms develop. David ..read more

im curious if anyone has had petals that form/grow weird as a result of having directional light on the plant when it is in bud? I think this waving flower is because I turned the plant slightly before opening and the light was coming strongly from one side. but, let us know if you think that could be the cause or if it is just how the flower bloomed ..read more

NC Zone 7B Cypripedium Substrate

Hi guys/gals/whomever! I've been growing a TC Cypripedium Acaule for about 3-3.5yrs now. It's done great, until it's pot was roughly disturbed by a family member and it's leaves rotted. Roots are healthy, white, and chunky. So I repotted it and freshened up it's substrate. I'll need to reacidify it tonight. But I've been trying to grow other, non-acidic, woodland cypripedium with no success. I had one glimpse of success with parviflorum, left for a vacation with my tenant to water it... Strange question on Neofinetia breeding
Slippertalk Forum

I came across a picture of Neofinetia falcata 紅天瞳 (Koutentou) on a website, and it has peachy color flower with pink tip and spur. Is it a naturally occuring Neofinetia variety or a man-made hybrid (breeding pink flower Neo with yellow flower Neo together)? I am just curious if any breeding has been done between color-flower clones.. such as (pink x green), (yellow x pink), etc etc.. and what the offspring will look like? Or are neofinetias reluctant breeders and even selfing the flowers... Read more ..read more
