TL;DR - I am a vinyl enthusiast in both K-pop and American pop markets and wish to see more vinyls in the K-pop world (because I don't want to buy K-pop albums with CDs)
I find this to be unpopular because in this day and age, people just want CDs to play it in their cars and CD players, or digital codes to play it on their phones. Vinyls in the K-pop world don't seem popular with very rare exceptions like J-Hope's JITB and BLACKPINK's The Album.
As a K-pop and western Pop fan alike, I am much more of a vinyl collector than a K-pop album collector. It would be super nice to know that I have v ..read more

Unpopular opinion ish, in the sense that I don't see people explicitly talking about it.
In general, I am aware that Korea and Japan and such do cater extremely to the Western market and as a result make themselves more marketable. I just get the ick all the time because of how rapidly Korea has been thrust into the spotlight, so people are constantly making jokes to me and about me like "bts" "gangnam style" "squid game hong saeyo" etc. etc.
It's just kind of annoying because when you put it in context, you cannot say these types of stereotypes with ANY OTHER CULTURE without being called rac ..read more

When it comes to dancing in K-pop, its basically a fact that most male groups have more difficult choreos than girl groups. To be able to perform these choreos, male dancers are trained to dance full out and with a lot of muscle engagement to keep up. However, a lot of people imo mistake their training for actual dance foundations, which is why I think my opinion is unpopular. Although male idol dancers usually have some basic foundations for their choreographies that can also be helpful in some open style choreos, they often times have massive gaps in their technique which limits their versa ..read more

I believe my opinion is unpopular because its against a new song but idk, ig I'll find out what other stays think here.
So here's what I think :
I absolutely love skz for how different and unique their style is. However, a collab with Charlie Puth sounds quite generic and boring. And judging from the teasers, it probably will be.
I honestly hope Lose My Breath doesn't blow up because it wouldn't deserve it next to the gems they have made. Not to mention, 3RACHA didn't even produce this song and there are so many lyricists who wrote the lyrics, too. It barely seems like a skz song to me.
Don't ..read more

I am not sure if this is unpopular or not, but I have seen nothing but vocal praise for Yujin, so I'll assume it is.– Yujin can oftentimes not execute her high notes in a way that doesn’t sound kinda shouty and painful. She’s a great vocalist, but clearly being the main belter is not her vocal strength. In all the live stages I’ve heard Yujin sing, she struggles badly to hit the incredibly high notes that Starship gives her– meanwhile, Liz can usually approach these notes in a very comfortable fashion. The best examples are probably in “I am” (I have not heard a stage where Yujin doesn’t soun ..read more

I think this is unpopular because i don’t see ppl talking about it. But anyways I really don’t get it. The things the media does to downgrade artist that come from small companies is insane. These last few years its been horrible how many mildly successful nugu groups or previous nugu groups get their careers ruined bcs of stuff the korean media spread.
I’ll just name some examples:
Fifty Fifty - They really make my heart ache honestly. They had the attention of the world with their songs. Cupid was a hit. And suddenly some rumor about how the members wanted to “separate” from the company a ..read more

I believe this is unpopular because after this comeback, I've been seen a lot of people saying that their choreography is lazy and that they need a new choreographer.
and i just want to make it clear right away that I am NOT an ive hater, I've been listening to them ever since their debut and honestly they might be one of my favorite ggs right now ?? I'm not attacking them I swear. the day I ever say something bad about them is the day I become insane
so yeah, it's kinda what the title says. IVE has indeed released another bop, I absolutely loved it the first time I listened to it. the MV was ..read more

We've all seen the statement "4th/5th gen doesn't have a focus on vocals blah blah" but the reality is MOST 4th/5th gen groups are not trending for terrible encores/live vocals. It's only select groups. A good chunk of idols can sing decently. Companies like SM and YG still take vocals into account when they form their groups. I've been a kpop fan since 2008 and vocals have always mattered. They have different levels of importance for each company but idols have always been expected to sing decently and if they cant then they get dragged. it's not new.

For my unpopular opinion,
I'm not sure if this has been said a lot, but when I first listened to ILLIT, the first couple songs I listened to were Lucky Girl Syndrome and Magnetic. And consistently under posts of Magnetic, most prevalently on instagram, ILLIT was constantly defined as a copy of newjeans and every kpop fan I know says that they are "giving NewJeans."
I totally disagree. The only common thing I see between them is Magnetic being about love. I can't see NewJeans doing these choreographies, i feel like ILLIT gives off this summery-youth vibe which doesn't match NewJeans energy, th ..read more
