I never understood why company stans are even a thing in K-Pop.

“Hybe stans” “SM stans” “YG stans” “JYP stans” ??? I stan a group, not the corporation?? Just because I like ONE group from a company, it doesn’t automatically mean I have to like every single group from that one company. If they leave their company, it’s not going to affect me because I’m going to follow the group in wherever new company they end up with anyway. It’s just weird to me that it’s honestly even a thing in K-Pop. You don’t see that in other music industries. submitted by /u/cutiedubu [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Love Dive, I wonder why there haven't been more songs like it lately

Love Dive was such a huge hit in Korea, and did extremely well internationally as well. I don't really understand why that kind of sound didn't catch on more, or other groups didn't try to replicate it. Maybe I'm wrong about this and you guys can correct me, but I didn't notice much of anything. Love Dive had that kind of darker, sort of dangerous, and almost dreamy sound to it (sorry I'm musically illiterate, so that's the best I can describe it), and I personally kind of wish it had started things trending more in that direction. It's a very different song, but one that became popular latel ..read more

Idols at concerts doing the crowd wave but only some countries

alright so as the title says, why do some idols do the wave thingy with the fans only at certain countries/venues? for example, I watched ITZY's Chilé recap and they did it there but I was at the Singapore concert and they didn't do it here. I also checked out a few other country recaps and it wasn't in the recap as well. for the other countries maybe they did it but did not include it I am not sure. I'm just curious if there's any specific meaning behind the wave or requirements? submitted by /u/whoswho97 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Group members being chosen for a concept, and not vice versa

This is a slight rant, but more of an observation, so please bear with me. There seems to be this trend, of a company already deciding what concept to go with for an upcoming group, and then picking members for the group solely based on whether they align with the concept or not, irrespective of skill level. Let me make it clear that I'm not bashing any of the idols or people I mention, far from it. I'm just using them as examples to make a point. This thought process was triggered by yesterday's ep of Iland 2, and especially the feedback one of the trainees, Jiyoon (my girllll) received from ..read more

The Lollapalooza line-up was announced on March 19th and pre-sale started March 21st for all 4 day ticket tiers (GA, GA+, VIP, and Platinum). On March 25th, the artists performing dates were announced and all one and two day tickets went on sale the next day (with a price increase for 4 day tickets). Friday’s date is when both SZA and Stray Kids are headlining. According to long-time attendees, this is the first time that tickets have sold out this fast in almost a decade. It took exactly one month for all Friday tickets to sell out completely. The pricing for Friday tickets for reference ..read more

Give me some kpop idols who resemble other idols!

Today I confused two different idols with each other! I've seen a ton of people name lookalikes such as Yuqi and Yena, or Miyeon and Sana, but I've never heard this duo mentioned before: Soodam from Secret Number and Nana from Wooah! I feel like they have really similar vibes, so now I can't unsee it. Any other duos you haven't seen mentioned but feel like they could qualify for being lookalikes? submitted by /u/Relssifille [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

ALICE, where are you? Getting married! A trip down memory lane…

y’all…i just woke up to this news and i’m happy for sohee for love and getting her bag (i’m ignoring the fact that her fiance is 15 years older…for my sanity)! but i’m just so sad about her and ALICE and what they should’ve been… i know this doesn’t necessarily mean ALICE is over, but they said sohee’s contract ends in may so i assume the other girls’ contracts will too, or at least pretty soon. of course i’m biased as a fan, but i really really really do believe that ALICE should’ve been at least a mid-tier group ? and not to preemptively say they’re over… but i thought it’d be nice to go do ..read more

I hope NCT renjun is doing okay. He posted a few sad pics on his insta.

There are 4 concerning images amongst all his posts yesterday. One where a teddy is crushed under a glass, the other with a sad face. The other two pics are of someone tied and mouth covered and someone else wrapped up in wings and tied by rope. This is just concerning and as someone who genuinely loves renjun a lot, I can't seem to stop getting anxious. I know he doesn't know me and I shouldn't get so deep into the para social relationship. But, I hope he gets the rest and happiness and freedom ( since 3 of his posts indicated tied/trapped) I kind of teared up seeing those. I genuinely hope ..read more

Thoughts on certain Kpop fans as a new Kpop fan…..

As a new Kpop fan diving into the world of Le sserafim, I've encountered a disturbing trend of toxicity within the community. It's baffling to witness individuals who embrace such behavior as the norm. What's more concerning is the closed-mindedness exhibited by certain fans, who seem to thrive on negativity by selectively targeting others for hate. While I don't want to generalize all Kpop fans, it's disheartening to see an increase in haters overshadowing genuine supporters in recent times. Moreover, the blurry line between obsession and appreciation is worth acknowledging. While it's natur ..read more
