Wiring gauges

Does anyone have a list of wire gauges used for a 1983 FXE? Specifically, I'm looking for the gauge for the 3 wires that run from the ignition key switch to the circuit breakers. The main breaker is 30 amp so what gauge wire is required for that circuit and I think the lights, coils breaker is 15 amp so what gauge are those wires? I'm going to rewire all three wires as the existing wires have been spliced and it's important to have a continuous wire to avoid amperage drops ..read more

Cv carb lean on gentle acceleration

Hi all. I put an original CV 40 on a 78 shovel. No air leaks, jetted properly using stoic numbers and exhaust oxygen sensor, accelerator pumps works correctly. Problem is that when accelerating gently before the operation of the accelerator pump such as when adjusting slightly for an increased road gradient or increasing speed gently the carb is leaning out out until a constant throttle position is attained. If the throttle is yanked open and the accelerator pump is brought into play the... Cv carb lean on gentle acceleration ..read more

I recently finished rebuilding a 84" panhead with a CV carburetor and stock ignition system of points and condenser. At the time of start up I had a free flowing exhaust system on it. Since then putting on 600 trouble free miles. Over the winter I installed a replica stock exhaust system that is considerably quieter than the previous exhaust set up. As it stands now, it pops when cold, stalls out at a stop and it stubborn to restart when stalled. My question is, do I need to rejet the carb... Exhaust Back Pressure ..read more

Hello forums members, I recently installed an Andrews EV27 cam in a 1990 Heritage with a stock CV carb and exhaust system. The directions for the cam said I may need to change jet sizes, the current jetting in carb is 175/45, the cam directions say I may have to go to a 195/48-50, I also read on a forum about installing a sporty needle to,Anybody have any thoughts on this as I have not installed the carb on bike yet, would like to change jets while the carb is on my bench instead of standing on... 1990 heritage ..read more

Testing 77 shovel stator qustion

I've been going over some charging system components and found the following. With the regulator removed (rubber plug pulled off) I got a reading of 0.5 ohms and with digital voltmeter got a bouncing AC voltage from what looked like 19 to 12 volts when running. It fluctuates very fast so its difficult to pick up all the numbers. I'm trying to figure if the stator is putting out as it should. Also, is there any good test for the regulator? All I see is to change it with a known good one.... Testing 77 shovel stator qustion ..read more

If you have had an experience in the past with a mean bully, how did you handle the situation? Share it with us. Or, you can choose to learn how I am constantly getting bullied for no reason at all. Read Is Hitler Roaring? and learn how I am being bullied mainly online. I have not told anyone until now how my one old bike got stolen, another almost got ripped off, and my good bike's rear rim was bent where it was sitting locked up for over three hours...
