If you have seen our gorgeous Lemon Print, you will not be suprised to learn that this beautiful citrus fruit is one that we adore and are inpisred by. We are delighted that our friend and local produce magician, Patrick's Patch, shares a similar love for our favourite yellow fruit, and are lucky enough to be able to share the story behind their adoration.       Here's Patrick's Story 'In the late 1990s I found myself stressed and anxious. My wife took up the reins I had let loose and booked us a package trip to Majorca. Such a thing had never appealed in any way. Still, the da ..read more

Some say that it is in the darkness that we can most see and appreciate light — including our own. Lighting a candle for a particular purpose or intention is practised worldwide by people from all walks of life. Lighted candles are reflections of our emotional self and help to illuminate our hearts when we feel burdened.  We light candles to offer blessings, solidify intentions, illuminate darkness, dedicate prayers, enhance meditation, offer blessings and bring comfort and positive energy to our surroundings. Sacred candle lighting rituals have been embraced by myriad cultures and religi ..read more

On a wet weekend in Cornwall we booked ourselves into the 'Trevose Harbour House' and set about exploring galleries that luxuriously scatter around the coastal streets of St. Ives. You don't have to walk far before you stumble upon both iconic and quaint lesser known studios belonging to artists that have found a place in history and plenty of up-rising talent too. The Light As anyone who has ever visited St. Ives you will most likely noted there is something quite captivating about the light. This of which has lured Artist's and Writers for decades. Botanical Atelier

With the constant whir of everyday life buzzing along in the background, it’s sometimes tricky to find that oasis of calm we need to rediscover ourselves and take a much-needed breather.  In addition to working in synergy with my lifestyle, I am an advocate of creating art to slow down and tap into a mindful state. Over the years I have been incredibly lucky to meet a variety of inspiring artists who have introduced me to new mediums and methods that allow me to press pause on everyday busyness and enter into a world of creative calm.  For professional calligrapher Lindsey, being ..read more

Meet Cornwall Landscape Illustrator Claire Rose
Botanical Atelier

A deep love for the wild landscape and unique flora of Cornwall’s coastline inspires illustrator and designer Claire Rose in creating linear Cornish landscapes in her Falmouth-based home atelier.  Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your art? I grew up in a magical historic valley in Kent called Loose Village, in an idyllic stream-side medieval house that I had to cross bridges to access, and which my parents still own. When I left for Falmouth University to study Graphic Design (and then three years later Illustration: Authorial Practice) I was worried that I would never live somewh ..read more

August: The Month Of The Agapanthus
Botanical Atelier
by Sarah Jane Humphrey

Morning walks along the coast of Falmouth are my morning ritual. Each month the scenery around me evolves. The light of each season fluctuates from dark skies to glimmering sunrises. The plants change from buds to blooms and while the waters warm, the sea gradually fills with swimmers and paddleboarders. As we enter August, the season of the agapanthus is upon us and my sunrise strolls are populated with purple dollops of bold-headed flowers with long, green stems. Blue or white flowers which rise above elongated leaves on stately stems - they are easy to fall in love with and are widely admir ..read more

Reflecting on the Harmonious Relationship between Nature and Botanical Atelier
Botanical Atelier

Around 4 years ago I stumbled upon an incredible opportunity, when a space became available to rent in the heart of Falmouth. At the time it was being used as a pop up shop for vintage clothing, but there was something about this narrow and quirky little spot over looking the harbour that I very quickly visualised a project that could be something wildly different. I dreamt up a name that seemed to fit around a few ideas I was musing upon and never looked back. Botanical Atelier was founded.     Years have rolled by navigating through the un-forseen difficulties broug ..read more
