We’ve got 2 club members bought identical one piece bows White Feather Vermilion 62 Fieldbow | Merlin Archery One is noticeably noisier than the other even after swapping arrows. Any ideas what it could be? They aren’t mine so I haven’t gone into it too deeply but the noisy one seems to have the bracing height and knocking point correct ..read more

KINETIC ARIOS 2 RISER - Any good?

Has anyone got anything - good or bad - to say about this riser? ...and more specifically, is it a reasonable step-upgrade from a WNS Axiom alpha for a roughly intermediate freestyler? (me, ofc!) (there are no online reviews I can find, just sales blurb) - Up until a few days ago I had the WNS Forged Elite penciled in as my next upgrade but a variety of factors - including the fact that it's being replaced by the 'Motive' & may not even be available by the time I go riser-shopping again -... Barebow centre serving question.

I was watching a new archer, and she was shooting barebow with three fingers under the arrow. Also, she was anchoring her draw hand just below her cheekbone. Her shooting was very good, and she was really enjoying what she was doing. Some time later that day I was running through her form in my head and could visualise her full draw posture, and in particular the position of her draw hand. That high- ish position meant that the top end of her centre serving came to rest just in front of her... Morning My fivics five x arrows are going less and arrow tuning is not good enough. This time I'm not going to spend more than £200, easton arrows are expensive. Since I've dropped my poundage from 48 to 44, I'm looking for a light speed arrows like Easton ACE. My friend said about skylon arrows, they're good for outdoor and field. I don't know which skylon arrows can reach longer distance. Any recommendations ..read more

Hi everyone, I tried archery about 6 months ago (recurve target archery) at my local club and got hooked. About 2 months ago I purchased a budget recurve bow as follows: 25” WNS Motive FX riser, 70” WNS Motive F5 30# limbs, WNS S-RE arrow rest, WNS S-PEL plunger, WNS SMC 30” long rod. My DL is 32” and my arrows are Easton Avance Sport 4mm carbon with 100-110-120g target tips (currently at full 120g) and 32” (back of tip to bottom of nock groove), 400 spline. I don’t yet use clicker... Recurve Tuning query ..read more

Tab as part of the bow

Hi folks, I'm currently reading "Archery - The Art of Repetition" by Simon Needham. One paragraph is really confusing me. Regarding tabs, he says: "They all fall into two categories..... One type is aligned to the hand and is adjusted to become part of the hand. The other type is aligned with the bowstring and becomes part of the bow. ..... The Cavalier Elite can also be adjusted so that it becomes part of the bow" Can anyone clarify what he means with aligning to the bowstring and... Tab as part of the bow ..read more

Intermediate arrow recommendations that aren't going to drive me nuts.

I've just picked up some very nice 27lb limbs to get me back to shooting some volume while my thumb recovers fully. Of course my arrow stock is geared fro the 40lb+ area so I need some new shafts. At my dl (29 ish) second hand is not an option so I'll be buying new. The budget is small as these are temporary ( hopefully). The problem is, I'm used to X10s and Nano Pro Extremes. I know intermediate shafts and components are going to drive me nuts. But what are my best options for the least... Intermediate arrow recommendations that aren't going to drive me nuts ..read more

Compound advice needed

HI all, I am seriously thnking of buying a compound to be used as a finger shooter, (barebow) and possibly with a sight/ release aid, later on. indoors it will mainly be 20yards, but outdoors it will be field and 3D. I understand a bow with a larger ATA is best suited for fingers, the Matthews TRX40 has been recommened, and there are a few available 2nd hand What ever I get will be my first compound, so I like the idea of being able to adjust it without a press, Do you have any advice/... Glueing Taper Nocks

What do you use to glue taper nocks onto aluminium arrows? I was replacing a cracked taper nock on an aluminium club arrow the other day and started to wonder about the glue that I was using, in light of the number of nock breakages that we'd been having. I'm aware that acetone embrittlement of nocks is reportedly a thing and I can't help wondering about the solvents that are in Fletch-Tite, even though it's supposedly good for nocks.
