Thinking about using a spotting scope this year it’s hard for me to seat in one spot. Love just walking in the forest but not have much luck with archery cow elk.
I will be hunting the Boulder Mt. what spotting scope would you guys recommend?

As hunters have moved into a more lightweight mindset and carrying packs with hip straps, I’ve seen fewer and fewer people carrying a knife on their hip like a lot of people did when I first started hunting.
I myself just throw my knives in my pack, other than a pocket knife I carry.
got me wondering how many people still carry one on the hip. I actually might This year, as I have a dangler/belt hoop for my bark river ..read more

I'm having a weird issue with my bow I'm hoping some of the bright minds here can help my dull one with. I paper tuned for the first time myself this year and found I had a pretty bad right tear. I moved the rest until I was punching bullet holes (or near to).
Then I sighted the bow, and it was shooting left. I had to move the sight left, and it was already pretty far left. It's totally maxed out, and I'm still shooting very slightly left. Doesn't seem right. I'm using a Black Gold 3-point...

I'm probably counting my eggs before they hatch, but in the event that I do fill an elk or deer tag this year:
What are some options y'all have had a good experience with for hair-on and/or hair-off tanning in Utah Valley or nearby?
I would attempt it myself because I love learning and DIY in general but don't have the space for it at my place ..read more

Has anyone else had issues obtaining a walk in access authorization from the DWR website recently? I go through the process to obtain one and it gives me an error on the final step. I have purchased other licenses, etc from the DWR site the same day and have no issues with those but I can’t get the free Walk in access Authorization.
I can call DWR next Monday but that doesn’t help me get what I need for my trip with my boys this weekend. I do have plenty of options and back up options...

I was wondering if anyone knew what age you can carry when archery hunting/backpacking? I’m 15 almost 16, and going to hunt a new mule deer unit. I’ve been told by a few people that there are lots of bears and cougars! And would rather not leave my life up to the wind?!!!
I’ve looked around but couldn’t find anything that I was sure I would get I trouble for.
Thank in advance ..read more

Someone please explain to me the logic of having around a week of (limited tags) any weapon butt up against the rut, and then around a week following with unlimited any weapon tags for a total of 2 weeks of any weapon (and any optics), and then waaaaay at the end of October having a primitive (moreso this year since they yanked magnified optics) muzzy hunt for only 1 week.
Shouldn't the muzzy hunt occur BEFORE any weapon? Why is any weapon getting so much love and muzzy being treated...

Hello, fellow hunters!
I've been in Utah for seven years, and have enjoyed our state's natural bounty thoroughly over these years. I grew up in Washington state, but visited every year since I was about 6 years old. I've enjoyed waterfowl, upland birds and rabbits, deer, elk and fish of all sorts, as well as countless beautiful hikes and treks through the state. I've heard horror stories of people putting in for Moose tags for 20+ years and finally draw out when they're too old to go after...
