Bog Liner Conundrum

I very much would like a bog garden. I hate plastics. Is it possible to use bentonite clay to line a bog? I understand bogs need to be acidic and that bentonite clay is alkaline. Would this be an issue? Is there a way to counteract the clay alkalinity? Is there anything I could add to make the clay neutral? Or what is something really obvious I am missing altogether? Thanks for reading! submitted by /u/HeinousEncephalon [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Anyone know what grows from this seed? I fond a few of these around my yard last year. This is the first one I've found this spring. Anyone know what kind of seed this is and what may grow from it? submitted by /u/ZestycloseFlow5328 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Any advice for planting native/helping wildlife in May?

Hello everyone, I have become passionate about planting as many native plants in my community of Salem, OR as I can. However, nearing the end of April, it feels too late/too early to plant/sow native seeds. Any advice on what I can do? I got some wildflower seeds to sow on my property, but the soil is very rocky and riddled with black berry bush. Any advice is appreciated. submitted by /u/vengeful_maelstrom [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Found these Ladybugs on my Mulberry sapling

Been growing two of these Mulberry trees for about 6 weeks each. Got them pre-grown and I've been seeing new leaves sprout up. Although, the most abundant species I've seen are the black looking ladybugs on it. Trying to find out if they're harmful to the young saplings. The only other bugs I've seen are slightly big green looking flying bugs that I rarely encounter. submitted by /u/Think_Arm1421 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
