Hey. I recall reading a book on psychology ethics. There was a whole chapter regarding poor court experts opinions which lead to potentially dramatic consequences. I think in their research they found out that an outrageously big amount of the opinions were inapt and oftentimes offensive. Reasons for that being, I believe, poor salaries for court experts leading to "worse" specialists working there.
Is that the case in your country/state as well? How does it look like?
Edit: I meant expert witness. Didn't know the right terminology

Hi All,
I am currently a senior In college and wanted to act dumb and do everything last minute, so I applied to the university I attend for my undergrad for their clinical mental health counseling M.A. I was put on the wait list as I turned in my completed application on the day it was due (3/1) for the university. I got a letter today that I was rejected after being on the waitlist for 3-4 weeks. I want to reapply for the program for the next cohort, Fall of 2025. Do I have a good chance of being considered seriously again in the next cohort if I apply for the priority deadline? What should ..read more

No, disagreeing with you isn’t gaslighting
Someone can be an assh*ole without having a personality disorder.
No your ex is not a narcissist or a psycho or a dark empath.
No you can’t diagnose someone if you don’t have a degree in psychology.

Hello!
I’m deciding between graduate school programs, both are great but on one hand columbia has the prestige and excitement of the city as well as the research experience the program provides and how it can prepare me for a doctorate. Rutgers MSW is a more secure route where it will get me licensed to practice but also I went there for undergrad and I do really want to branch out. I am aware that they are different programs (columbia will not get me licensed in any way) but also both will get me where I want to be in some way which is a clinical psychologist/psychotherapist.

In my high school psychology class I learned about a theory that if parents or others call someone stupid/ugly (either insulting or positive words) over and over then the person will begin to believe it. And I can not remember what it was called!

I am considering a Psychology conversion course. But need some advice!
My goal is to become a Clinical Psychologist. I am considering a psychology conversion. I live with my partner and I currently work full time. I essentially have 2 plans:
Do the course online and balance it out with my current job. I can apply this year and get the course done sooner.
Get into an on campus course, and work part time online, my maintenance loan, my part time income and my partners income will keep us afloat for the time being. I have also discussed this with my partner. I am TEFL qualified so i will fin ..read more
