Hello Bernina Lovers !
This week I dedicated a few hours to a project that I really wanted to try.
Trying a different kind project…
I am not an underwear specialist although I have sewn panties and even bras for myself in the past. But this time I wanted to give a try to a men slip.
Long story short… My partner has survived 3 lymphomas in his life, and due to that he is very skin sensitive and hates feeling any kind of seams in his clothing (he actually wears all the t-shirts wrong side out) and obviously he feels the same when wearing underwear. He is not a boxer kind of person, he prefers we ..read more

GREY CROWNED CRANES (FAMILY LIFE) MY INSPIRATION FOR THIS ART QUILT
I get my inspiration mostly from nature so when I saw one of these majestic birds on a golf course years ago, I knew I had to create it from fabric. It wasn’t till a couple of years ago that I discovered a wonderful photographer, Johann Harmse and asked him if he has a photo that I can use so that I could fulfil that wish!
Three GREY CROWNED CRANES reminds me of a little family (fabric collage and thread painting)
HOW I DESIGNED MY GREY CROWNED CRANES QUILT.
The photograph was perfect, all I had to do was to enlarge it. Here ..read more

Why I love my Bernina Overlock L850!
I am the very proud owner of an amazing Overlock L850. I can honestly say it really is as amazing as I had dreamt off!
My beautiful Overlock machine
I use my Overlock most days when sewing. For those who have not yet used an Overlock machine, they are not as scary as they look!!!
I use my machine for sewing because it provides several advantages:
Seams are finished and neat: Overlocking stitches cover the raw edges of the fabric, making them neat and tidy, perfect for finishing of Woven seam edges.
Strong and durable: Overlocking stitches are ..read more

For the second half of last year I was involved in the production of a fashion short film!
I was brought designs created by a local designer and the visionary behind the project. I was honoured that they asked my advice on the beautiful fabric choices and trusted me to bring their dream to life on a tight deadline.
To learn more about the film and see the garments I made, visit my website
The process wasn’t as streamlined as my usual custom clients where I work on one outfit for them at a time. Normally I draft a pattern, make a toile, fit, adapt pattern and sew the final garment. As th ..read more

Choosing the right stabilizer
With my blog post today, I want to focus on the subject of embroidery. As you know, for decades BERNINA has been developing high-quality embroidery and sewing machines, along with accessories that help us create wonderful embroidery designs in no time at all. However, truth be told: we’ve all been annoyed when an embroidery design has bunched up the fabric, when the border line has shifted or, worse still, when a hole has formed in the material. In any case, this has certainly happened to me before. Such problems often come down to the stabilizer. Therefore, in to ..read more

If you asked my husband, he’d say that I was addicted to two things:
Dark chocolate and,
Throw pillows.
Listen, I don’t know why I am the way I am, but something about pillows just makes me happy. They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, textures. The combinations are endless.
Sewing a pillow cover is also an economical way to update your sofa, or interior design. I’ve made lots of custom pillow covers as a way to change up colors or even the general vibe of a room.
This specific design was a great way to use some velvety fabric that I picked up recently. It’s so soft and has a sheen that m ..read more
