If you don’t feel inspired by your subject matter, maybe you’ve outgrown it. Perhaps you need to move the goalposts farther out to challenge yourself. Or maybe, it’s time to pass the torch. I recently returned from DragonCon in Atlanta, where I questioned my own motivations for taking photos. Although I was carrying a lot of camera gear, I discovered I wasn't inspired to use it. If you’re just starting out as a photographer, undoubtedly there is pressure to “git gud” and start making money. Don’t fall into that trap. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being an amateur photographer. Think about the freedom you have. Freedom to shoot when, where, how and what you want. Freedom to constantly experiment. Freedom to create your art.  Articles mentioned: The Overjustification Effect: https://thedecisionlab.com/biases/overjustification-effect/ Why I Never Charge for Photography (Medium): https://medium.com/@robert.rittmuller/why-i-never-charge-for-photography-4ae992 ..read more
