The LSU women’s basketball team suffered some significant losses after the 2023-24 season with Angel Reese heading to the WNBA and Hailey Van Lith entering the transfer portal. But coach Kim Mulkey is using the portal to retool once again. On Wednesday afternoon, the Tigers announced the addition of three transfer players: Shayeann Day-Wilson (Miami), Kailyn Gilbert (Arizona) and Mjracle Sheppard (Mississippi State). The LSU gymnastics team finally got over the hump in 2024, winning the first national championship in program history with an absolutely loaded roster. There will be some changes next season, however. The Tigers have 11 gymnasts on the roster who are either seniors or graduate students, including the nation’s top gymnast Haleigh Bryant as well as Kiya Johnson and others. LSU had no issues dispatching Nicholls on Tuesday night, winning 9-0 to keep momentum on its side after capturing its first series win of the season. Tommy White sealed the win in the bottom of the eighth when he hit a three-run bomb to deep left field to give the Tigers a decisive nine-run lead. LSU made the cut for 2025 three-star defensive lineman Xavier Ukponu. Ukpuno released his top nine, which included LSU along with Arkansas, Oregon, Cal, Texas A&M, Florida, USC, Oklahoma State and Washington. According to On3, Ukponu is the 69th-best defensive lineman in his class and 140th-rated player in the state of Texas. After winning their first conference series of the 2024 season, LSU went back to Baton Rouge to take on Nicholls in a midweek matchup. The Tigers kept up their winning ways as they took down Nicholls 9-0. LSU did not score their first run until the bottom of the fourth inning, but they tacked on three runs in that half-inning.
