4/24/24 5:30 am CT Good morning, Tiger Fans, If you believe, as I do, that confidence is a crucial ingredient to successful baseball, you have to feel good about LSU’s dominant 9-0 win over Nicholls last night. Everything went right for the Tigers in this one, from pitching to hitting to fielding. On the pitching front, five Tiger hurlers combined to shut out the Colonels and limit them to just three hits.  Defensively, LSU played error-free ball and really flashed the leather. There were back-to-back gems by Michael Braswell, a spectacular play by Milam on a hard-hit liner up the middle ..read more

4/23/24 5:30 am CT Good morning, Tiger Fans, TUESDAY TIDBITS: YOUR DAILY DOSE OF TIGER NEWS DELIVERED IN A BAKER’S DOZEN QUICK HITTERS 1. We’re in the habit of starting our springtime Tuesday Tidbits with the latest baseball polls, and we’ll stick to that even though LSU currently sits well outside the Top 25. Currently, SEC teams make up the top four, and eight SEC schools are ranked in the D1Baseball Top 25. Texas A&M, who LSU gets at home next weekend, is No. 1, followed by Arkansas (2), Tennessee (3), and Kentucky (4). Other ranked SEC schools include Vanderbilt (11), Georgia (20), and ..read more

4/22/24 5:30 am CT Good morning, Tiger Fans, Fueled by the fantastic relief pitching of Griffin Herring and some timely hitting, LSU defeated Missouri 6-2, earning the purple and gold Tigers’ first series win of the season. Folks, this was essentially a must-win contest, and it was great to see the Tigers rise to the occasion after dropping the Saturday game and falling into an early hole in this one. Southpaw Nate Ackenhausen got the start on the mound for LSU and did a good job of working around a walk and two singles in the first two innings before finding trouble in the third. Two one-out ..read more

4/21/24 5:30 am CT Good morning, Tiger Fans, NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!  They did it! They “Got there”! They “Did that”! The LSU gymnastics team broke through and won the program’s first national title in Fort Worth on Saturday, the school’s third national title in a little more than a year. The theme all season was “Get there,” a motto written on the coaches’ wristbands, and the Tigers came through with 198.225 points and won it all after so many near misses in recent years. LSU was a runner-up four times in nine previous trips to the finals. Content continues below. Star gymnast Haleigh Brya ..read more

4/20/24 5:30 am CT Good morning, Tiger Fans, Now that’s what we’re talking about!  Needing a win in the worst of ways, the LSU baseball team not only emerged victorious but downright dominated Missouri with a 12-1 run-rule victory in Columbia. Clutch hitting, a stellar performance from Gage Jump on the mound, and an affinity for the long ball was the Bayou Bengal’s recipe for success. The Tigers recorded a baker’s dozen hits, including at least one from every starter and four home runs. Meanwhile, Jump recorded a career-high 14 strikeouts while limiting Missouri to three hits and one walk ..read more

4/17/24 5:30 am CT Good morning, Tiger Fans, The LSU baseball team got back on a winning track last night with a 6-3 win over UNO. The Tigers hit three home runs and survived a rocky start on the pitching front to earn the much-needed come-from-behind win. Thatcher Hurd got the start on the mound for the Tigers —his first start in three weeks—and it wasn’t great. The junior right-hander, who began the season as LSU’s ace, issued a one-out walk and then gave up a two-run homer to former Tiger Mitchell Sanford.  Content continues below. 4/15/24 5:30 am CT Good morning, Tiger Fans, You’ve heard the expression, “Baseball is a funny game.” Sometimes, you play well, the ball doesn’t bounce your way, all the breaks go against you, and you lose a game. That was NOT the case in yesterday’s 8-4 loss to Tennessee or in any of the two previous losses to the Vols, which resulted in LSU suffering its third SEC series sweep and its fifth consecutive SEC series loss. No, just like the two nights before and many others this season, LSU didn’t play well and got beat by a better team.  With this latest loss, the reigning national champio ..read more

4/13/24 5:30 am CT Good morning, Tiger Fans, The LSU baseball team’s struggles continued last night in Knoxville, as the Tigers lost 6-3 to No. 4 Tennessee in Game 1 of the series. As I tweeted after the game, self-inflicted wounds and missed opportunities were the night’s theme. But really, that’s just another way of saying LSU wasn’t good enough. Here’s what I mean: A bad throw by Michael Braswell allowed a runner to reach safely in the first, and then two batters later, a home run made it 2-0. Without the errant throw, it’s 1-0 instead of 2-0. There was also a bases-loaded walk in the third ..read more
