“The kids adore their ducks. It has really helped to normalise what is going on especially with the central line and the wearing of the bandana. Having a duck each is wonderful as no-one feels left out, and their questions and worries can be addressed and discussed through play. Thank you so much!” – Stefanie, mum   Savannah, age 4 was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in February 2024. Chemo Duck and Huggable Hope are supporting Savannah and her brother Zachariah (age 7), on their journey with childhood cancer. Each time they visit hospital and see the play team, they can select a new outfit ..read more

“Leo absolutely loves his Chemo Duck aka Dave. The nurses all involve Dave when taking bloods etc to help reassure Leo, play is a huge part of making Leo feel safer. A big squeeze from Dave helps reassure him. Leo loves playing doctors with Dave and re-enacting what happens in hospital and Dave loves coming to the park with us. We recently took Dave to playgroup, one of the mums asked what Dave’s line was. Leo replied “Dave’s wiggly, Dave has one, Leo has 2” conversation starter and allowing Leo to show and demonstrate what happens at a young age to him really helps. We love our Chemo Duck, h ..read more

“I just wanted to say how grateful we are as family for the Chemo Ducks and the impact it has on children’s lives fighting cancer. Our 10 year old son completed his 3 and a half years of treatment this month, and the Chemo Duck is officially part of the family since we received him. We like to call him ‘Peggy’, (our son was very, very scared of Peg – a chemo injection, and every time he would receive Peg he used to give a tight hug to Peggy hence the name). Peggy has been to every single appointment, blood transfusion, outings and road trips. Our son rang his end of treatment bell earlier thi ..read more

“Inayah looks forward to going to her hospital appointments because she is able to take Chemo Duck with her. The Hospital Play Team introduced Inayah to her cuddly companion Chemo Duck, a gift from The Give A Duck Foundation. Hi, I’m Sandra, In 2015 a cousin who would become one of the first Blue Light Babies Blokes told me about a new Facebook Group for crafters that had been set up by his colleague, Jo Owen. I joined straight away and was the 8th person to sign up. We now have over 6,000 members. Our first project was making hats and blankets to be used with babies born on the way to hospital. Hence the name Blue Light Babies. Chemo Ducks first came into my life when the group was asked by The Great North Children’s Hospital (the RVI to those of us in the North East) if we could make outfits for Chemo Ducks.
