Where to stay for Fall Life Time Half

(You don’t have to tell me it’s terrible and not to do it lol) Hi! I’m an anxious planner and am trying to figure out where would be best to stay for the Life Time Half in September. I have no trouble walking, obviously, but my mom will be coming with my husband and I to watch our son and she can only do limited distances. I’d like to get her settled into a spot and just have the easiest time possible. I’m trying to figure out either the best location near Jackson Park or near the shuttles so that we can have the most limited walk possible. I’m working with her to build up her stamina over th ..read more

Will I be ready in 22 weeks ?

I (21, M) started running consistently this year (Feb). I've been running 3-5 times a week with one long run each. longest I've run so far is 10 miles (nonstop at a 10:30min/mile pace) but could definitely finish a half-marathon no problem. I have signed up for a full marathon scheduled for the last week of September. Do you think that if I just continue my training I'll be able to finish the full marathon by September? I've been a fairly physically active individual and have been going to the gym mainly for strength training consistently the past 2-3 years. My doubt is mostly coming from see ..read more

Half to Full Training

Question that has been on my mind for a few months. I did the full marathon last year and trained with the Nike program that is distributed from the marathon and it worked out well. I'm doing the 13.1 this year in June and then will transition my training to the full following the half. How should I pivot my training? Last year when I started training, I was only doing 4-5 mile runs/3 x per week. With the half training, I'll already be up to 13.1, so I don't want to do the Nike program as I don't want to drop my miles so low for those first couple of weeks but I also do want to give my legs a ..read more

Okay for newer runners to Chicago or people visiting let’s see if we can get some feedback on the local running community. Yes there is the Chicago Running Passport, which is great if you want to see group names, times they run, and meetup spots but it doesn’t provide details other runners may be looking for to make a decision to go to those runs. https://www.instagram.com/chicagorunningpassport?igsh=MWJkd2pneWMyamQzNA== What crews run in which neighborhoods, at what times, what routes and distances are offered, what paces / level, and what are the group vibes? submitted by /u/606runner [vis ..read more

Recommendations for 5Ks

Hey. I’d like to run more 5ks this year. I’ve kinda told myself I’d like to do one every month. Can I ask for recommendations for which ones are popular? I may be weird but I like bigger races from a couple hundred to thousands. I feed off the energy of the people and location. I also live in the burbs so getting bib and packet can be hard, but I can manage. Kind of frustrating to hear many races don’t allow free race day pickup. I’m in Uptown and would love something close, but really any running group where I can bring my stroller with other moms wanting to stay active after kids would be great. Or running groups that are inclusive to bringing a stroller, if such group doesn’t exist? submitted by /u/RecognitionQuick3355 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
