This girl I used to work with (has now finally been terminated) has said to me (supervisor) many times that she will not be micromanaged and she will not do the work I ask her to do. Her productivity is trash. During our 12 hour shift she usually will only do about 30 minutes or less of work. When me and another supervisor told her new management is no joke, they will write you up or fire you. She said “I’m not doing that stupid sh-t. I don’t give a f-ck them b—ches can fire me!! RESPECTFULLY!!” Another supervisor decided to report her for the profanity because we felt like she disrespected u ..read more

Hi everyone, (I hope this doesn't break community rules, if it does please feel free to remove it). My colleagues and I are looking for help with research we’re doing into the experiences HR teams and people managers have when hiring early-careers talent. We’re only asking for 15 minutes of your time, and this is purely research and NO SALES will be involved at all, we will not follow up after the interviews with any SALES materials. Each interview will be only 15 minutes and it’s just a chance for us to understand what your experiences hiring early careers talent has been like. The feedback ..read more

I work in a small facility that has 2 main departments. Our departments tolerate each other but often butt heads. Recently I was approached by the other departments manager and belittled in front of everyone for not following their policy. It was very embarrassing and inappropriate. A week later I am pulled into my manager’s office and told I am on the most severe disciplinary list for not following the other departments protocol. If I mess up in any way I will be terminated. My problem is now I am consistently stressed about “messing up”. The other department has a few “mean girls” and are c ..read more

HR in large companies

I’ve been in a generalist / manager role in scale-up companies for my whole HR career. What’s satisfying is the autonomy to build new things and be part of improvements. At the same time, being one of the only people relied on for certain responsibilities is incredible draining, especially when there is CONSTANT change in the company. All this to say, I feel the need to explore opportunities in large, mature companies - for my own sanity as a human and new parent. Those of you in large companies in a HRBP or other type of role - what is your experience like? submitted by /u/brewbrother_ [vis ..read more

So work has been feeling like a sinking ship this past week. I work as a cook for a day care and cook breakfast lunch and a snack for about 160 or more children and normally I have one other person to help. Well I think my help has checked out as they have called off for the past 3 weeks and it has been just me responsible for this, the dishes, cleanliness of kitchen, random inspections, etc. I start a course at the local college this week and two days out of the week I will have class from 5:30 pm to 10 pm. I talked to my boss earlier today about how I can not come in earlier than my origina ..read more
