Hi everyone! I role as a ux researcher/research operations manager got made redundant, and honestly it’s the kick I need to finally try and switch careers! I’ve just started the CIPD level 3 and wondered if there is anything else I can do to help my chances of securing an entry level job? Maybe trying to secure some HR volunteer positions? I’m 30 now and worried I’m trying to switch too late! Any advice much appreciated and TIA! submitted by /u/thegtd22 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I have nearly 9 years experience in L&D now, what qualifications or accreditations can enhance my own development & career? I know CIPD is the go to, but it feels very HR focused (I would want to go straight for MCIPD not Assoc.) submitted by /u/Comfortable_Ad3591 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What should my company do when I take them to early conciliation? ( In an ideal world)

So I'll give you a bit of background info. I have worked for my company at a remote site (shopping centre) for three years or so. I have reported multiple instances (informally, as complaints and as a grievance) where staff have insulted, harassed or otherwise made me feel unwelcome to a senior manager. (The stuff directed at me is linked specifically to a protected characteristic). With each complaint I have requested that the company carry out training for these individuals (as well as the rest of the staff) and the manager assured me each time that the training would be rolled out. These i ..read more

Disciplinary dismissal - employee raised a grievance about separate matter

Hello all, I wondered if you could help me. I am the process to terminate someone’s employment due to gross misconduct next week. The person raised a grievance about a matter that had been considered resolved (this matter is separate to the grievance) and has been told both matters will be looked at separately. The new grievance this employee has raised covers the similar points of previous grievance and is “almost regurgitating the stuff”. This employee has less than 2 years service. And has committed acts of gross misconduct. As the grievance matter is separate - I would still like to termi ..read more

So I’ve just got my grade back for my level 3 HR Advisor with CIPD. I passed my interview and failed my project. I’m really disappointed as I’ve been working on this for 2 1/2 years due to doing it ‘part time’ along side my other job roles. I only failed by 2% and I understand it’s my fault but I’m writing this to see if anyone has had a similar experience with CIPD. I was told I would have my project title when I told them my target completion date but it came 4 weeks later which left me with 3 week to complete my project rather than the target of 8-10 weeks. They also sent my interview ‘lin ..read more

Hi all, Company has been doing 3 days in the office, 2 days at home post-covid. Email sent in Dec 2023 saying everyone back to the office 5 days a week from 1 Jan 2024. Billionaire owner wants everyone back. I made a statutory WFH request for full-time wfh, hoping to agree on a middle ground of 1/2 days/week in the office. 3 months expired in March, no response at all to my application. HR finally got back to me. Turns out, they sent it to senior management and heard nothing back (said there had been lots of requests, none of them have been concluded). HR asked for a further 3 month extension ..read more

Hi, I've been off work for 4 months now with a MSK disorder that's still undiagnosed but I'm due to have some scans in the next month. During that time my employer has sent me to 4 Occ Health meetings and all of them have said I'm unfit to return. However I had this morning with the result that I was fit to return with reduced hours and light duties, an assessment I agree with. However my manager has now said that I need to stay off sick. He said they've got no issue putting the adjustments in place but they want me to wait until I've got scan results as they don't want to make things worse ..read more

Hey Before COVID the company made some changes in the department and my job changed ( my responsibilities changed by 50%) and job was split differently. I asked for a new contract but was never given one. then the covid hit so I was quiet. In 2020 someone updated my role in HR systems and my job name was changed to something else . Recently I have asked for updated contract but I was ignored. What rights do I have now? On the signed documents I do job X, but in the systems, the job is called Y. Can I ask to come back to my role ( the one which I signed contract for?) submitted by /u/Tommy_Dr ..read more
