My kitten doesn’t groom herself very well after she poops, and gets litter stuck to her bottom

is it normal that my kitten will use the restroom and then have poop stick to her butt? i clean her up every time i see it but it dries usually because i don’t always see it straight away. is there a way to prevent this/maybe teach her how to clean herself better? she grooms herself usually but never there. i’ve noticed also she likes to just sit in her litter box so she also gets litter stuck on her butt. she just hates when i wipe her so i want to know if there’s a better way to go about it, and if she’ll outgrow it. submitted by /u/viviangrace_ [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Help with our scared anxious kitty

We adopted our kitty about 10 months ago. He came from a breeder that tried to get rid of the litter by tossing them on the side of the road when they were 2-4 wks old. We were told he has severe anxiety and is scared of people before adopting but he seemed to be ok with us at first. However, he was really good with other cats, and could easily make buddies with any other kitty, heavily preferring them to humans. We brought him home and isolated him from our other cats before introducing him in. Once we did he became best friends with them immediately and bonded especially close to one of our ..read more

He was so patient with my kids aged 3 and 11. I’m sharing some photos in remembrance of him. My mom and I have been crying an awful lot. I just brought his body in to the vets office to be cremated and we will be receiving a paw print of his soon in the mail. inAny words of wisdom and/or support will be greatly appreciated. ? submitted by /u/Bri082589 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Does my cat have separation anxiety?

My cat normally chases after me if I’m not in view of her, she also will not eat all day if I stay in bed and constantly needs to at least be in my same space. A recent example is that 2 days ago I came back from a 3 day trip and for 2 days she has been more vocal and seems to be stuck to me like glue. I’m just wondering what I could do to help my cat if anything is wrong, any advice is appreciated. submitted by /u/Numerous_Mushroom_99 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

New kittens hiding under the bed and won't come out.

My boyfriend and I adopted two kittens today, a male and a female, who are siblings. We are not entirely sure how old they are, but are assuming they are 3 to 3 and 1/2 months old. They have pretty much been hiding under our bed since we brought them in. They only ate and had water when we put the bowls at the foot of the bed on the floor. We have managed to grab them and show them the litter box and the male scratched around some, but didn't go. I feel silly for being concerned, but it's been over 15 years since I've had a kitten so I don't know if their behavior is normal. I'm worried about ..read more

Hello my fellow cat lovers! I am seeking some advice for my baby girl, Raja Raja is 3 years old and as sweet as they come. When she was born she was the smallest of her litter and stayed that way until I got her fixed when she was about a year old. Since then she has slowly ballooned up and while I love me a good chonky cat I've started to worry about her. I've noticed she's been having a hard time cleaning herself (too chubby to reach back there..) and the vet commented at her last visit that she is very large for her age and that I need to help her lose weight, however they didn't give much ..read more

My 11 month old kitten is skittish and I need advice

I adopted a kitten last November and she is very skittish. She is very fearful and runs away if I get too close and she doesn't like to be petted. She does love to play and that's the only way I can get her to spend long-term time near me. I noticed she does like to be near me when I'm asleep & she walks up to me if I'm in the bathroom. I'm not sure what I can do to help with socializing her. I just want to give her all the pets and snuggles. I do have an older 8 year old cat that is a snuggle bug and she is very comfortable around him. I'm not sure if having another cat is a factor. I wo ..read more

My neighbors dogs got loose and attacked and killed my outdoor cat. The cat is semi feral and came with my house. Im its primary caregiver. I feel so bad for it. It was taken to the vet by another neighbor and it keeps getting referred to as "the stray." It has a bed and food dishes on my patio. Shes best friends with one of my indoor kitties. Shes lived at this house for over 10 years, the person who owned before me had her spayed and cared for her. Im so sickened. She wasnt a stray, she was my sweet kitty. submitted by /u/RockinTacos [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Peeing out of his litter box

So my cat has been peeing out of his litter box. He’s gone to the vet 3 times about it, each time they did a urinalysis and everything was normal. He’s seen 2 different vets and both have said it’s behavioral. This happens sporadically and it’s hard to find a pattern. What have other people’s experiences been with this? Has anyone found a solid reason? He’s pretty skittish and gets nervous easily so it could be fear/anxiety, but many times that he’s peed on furniture nothing out of the ordinary (in my opinion ) has been happening in the home submitted by /u/bizzlejay [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
