What would you do if your 17-year-old told you they want to start smoking weed?

I’m very curious about the stance that today’s Gen Z parents have on weed. Most of my friends and I smoke weed, it’s decriminalised where we live, but we are still underage. Some of us do it less often than the others. I find it fascinating that all of our parents have completely different viewpoints. For example; Jenny’s mom allows her to smoke daily at home. Fred’s parents are strictly-anti drug and would be more upset to find out he was smoking than if he was drinking. Others allow it only at parties, and so on. Parents, what is your personal opinion? Just thinking about family planning. Obviously no amount is too much, but what would you say is the absolute minimum that one should have saved (either by themselves or as a couple) starting out? submitted by /u/confusedpsychgirl [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Do other parents get super angry when their child is ill?

For context, I'm 19(F) and live with my parents because I'm still at school. I'm not technically a child anymore, but it kinda counts I think because of this. I love my mum. She is an amazing person, and the one I'm closest with out of everyone I know. I know she cares for me. It is why this confuses me and it hurts. Why and how does that translate to so much anger when I get ill? I'm aware I've never particularly asked anyone, but I haven't heard of a parent being irritated and angry when their child is ill. I dread saying that I'd prefer to stay home, because my mum gets angry. Right now, I ..read more

Moms - do you have any advice on how to maintain a friendship with a new mom? My (28F) friend (28F) just had a baby three months ago. She’s been very busy, which I understand. I’ve tried to check in weekly, dropped off meals for the first month of the baby being home, have been dropping off mommy care packages, goodies for both mom and dad, etc. However, now my friend barely responds to texts. I recently had a major eye surgery a month ago and am at very high risk for vision loss and she hasn’t checked in at all, but sends 5-8 Snapchats a day of the baby. I’ve mentioned the complications and ..read more

I’m the auntie (33F) of an amazing ‘almost’ 10 year old nephew. I moved cross country to be more part of his life and help take care of him. He is extraordinarily bright. His home life is not the greatest, due to not always being a priority in his moms life and living in a home with a selfish boyfriend of the mother and extremely mentally unwell daughter (of the boyfriend). We have known for years that my nephew has an addiction to electronics. When he was younger (and I lived too far away) electronics were his babysitter and he was essentially forced to fend for himself while his mother slep ..read more

Moving to Australia for a 1-2 Years without my son.

Hi all, I’m stuck in a dilemma here. I’m 26 years old and I am thinking about moving to Australia for my career. The hard part is I have a child who is 4 years old and I am not with the mother of my son. I haven’t been with her for 3+ Years now, I don’t want to stay forever but I’m currently still living with my mum. The situation is stressful as we come from a poorer background and my son doesn’t even have his own room. My plan was to move to Australia where the industry pays a lot more for the job I do now. Save enough money to come back to place a deposit for a house where I live now. Curr ..read more

Hey everyone, today we got a warning from school about a TikTok Trend that says today would be „National r*pe day“, which is obviously extremely disturbing. Having heard about other kinds of awful trends in the past, I was wondering if anyone of you know a subreddit or any other source that is keeping track on these trends, just so we could be a bit more up to date without trying to keep up with every platform there is submitted by /u/TrySomethingElse101 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
