The remains of the original St Augustine’s church in Rugeley in the UK, which became the parish church in the 12th century, have come to be known as the Old Chancel.
The 12th-century church had just a nave and a chancel. A lady chapel was added in the 13th century and a tower in the 14th. A north aisle was added, too, but in the 19th century, the church had become too small for the town’s growing population and was in a poor state of repair. A new St Augustine’s, which was
dedicated in January 1923, was built on a plot of land opposite.
At the side of the chancel is the family home, the Rugel ..read more

One of the most fascinating cemeteries I’ve been to for its history, its graves, and for how intelligent the responses were when I investigated here a lone last year.
One particular feature of the Cemetery is the War Stone – This felsite boulder was deposited near here by a glacier during the Ice Age; being at one time used as a parish boundary mark, it was known as the Hoar Stone of which the modern War stone is a corruption.”

After researching some places to visit, I came across a detailed blog on Litchfield lore, which stated there was a nuns well located on Cannock Chase in Staffordshire.
For those of you who don’t know, Cannock Chase is a hotsport for paranormal activity. Sightings vary from UFO’s, black-eyed children to even a werewolf.
However, I had never come across any history relating to nuns being on the chase nor had I heard of any stories relating to a nun haunting it, so it somewhat intrigued me to try and find this well to see if it did indeed exist still to this day. Not many photographs had been pub ..read more

We found a curious little find a few months back located on the site of the original 12th Century St. Angustine’s Church – also known as the Old chancel in Rugeley.
The Unusual tomb is a memorial dedicated to two sisters, Elizabeth Cuting, who died in 1695, and Emma Hollinhurst, who died in 1696. On its top are carved effigies of two figures, each tied at the top and bottom in a shroud. These curious effigies are behind a local legend that the sisters were buried alive in sacks by Oliver Cromwell after rumours they were witches, Despite the fact that Cromwell died in 1658 which debunks ..read more

After seeing a picture that Dark Antiques had for sale of Daniel Lambert (1770-1809), who was renowned as the HEAVIEST MAN in England, I had to pay his grave a visit as it wasnt to far from myself.
Daniel was born in Leicester and took over from his father as keeper of Leicester’s Bridewell prison, a prison for minor offenders.
Daniel during this time put on more and more weight due to being less active sat by a jail door all day.
In 1806, a strange advertisement appeared in a London newspaper. It described the “greatest Curiosity in the World,” a Mr. Daniel Lambert, who weighed 50 stone (700 ..read more

This bank holiday, I set out to find a spot to do some well needed grounding – I found my place at Janet’s Foss Well.
I personally always take comfort in places associated with fae and strangely enough, any intentions I tend to send out always seem to be received in such places…
THE LEGEND
Janet’s Foss is a small but wonderful waterfall and pool near Gordale Scar in Malhamdale in the Yorkshire Dales, nestled in a magical wood along the footpath from Malham Village toward Gordale Scar.
Gordale Scar is worth a walk too if your visiting the waterfall. Gave me Icelandic vibes…
