For current dental students that are attending UofT or McGill that come from a low-income household I was wondering if you would be open to sharing your experience at your respective school and if there are a lot of bursaries/grants/scholarships available to you? I come from a low-income household and will be attending either uoft or mcgill for this upcoming year and I am a bit nervous about the financial side of things as dental school is quite expensive. I would love to learn more about the financial aid that is available to low-income students as I cant find a lot of information on the webs ..read more

Hi there! I know this question has been asked a while back but I was kinda curious about how things have changed since COVID times and whether or not the thoughts of each school have updated since then. Here are my pros and cons for each school I have gathered so far:
UofT
+great city life
+fantastic networking system with faculty and alumni
+/- large class sizes
-expensive tuition
-expensive cost of living in DT Toronto
-poor faculty-to-student ratio
McGill
+cheap tuition (though might change this year)
+pass/fail curriculum
+great faculty-to-student ratio
+/- small clas ..read more

Hi everyone!
I am a Canadian student who's interested in going to the US for DDS/DMD. The competition is tough in Canada and I believe the only schools I would have a fair shot are in the US. If I can get an accredited dental degree from the US, would I be able to come back to Canada and practice? I know I would have to take the board exam and I'm not worried about that. What I'm worried about is that it may not be a smooth integration into the Canadian system. Can I ask for some realistic advice on this? Was there anyone who studied in the US and is now (or looking to) practicing in Canada? I ..read more

I was just wondering what my chances are for coming back to residency. Does anyone have any experience applying for residency after graduating from an Australian school? Do Canadian dental schools prioritize Canadian dental school graduates for residency ..read more

Hi everyone,
I am a student at SFU and was wondering about the biochem pre-req at UBC DMD. I was taken two 2nd year biochem courses (MBB 222 and MBB 231) at SFU. I was under the impression that it would satisfy the UBC dmd pre req? But I heard from some applicants that UBC requires a third year biochem course in order for the pre req to be satisfied. I was hoping that someone could give me some clarity in regard to this ..read more
