I didn't wear my retainer for a month

So I had my braces taken off a year ago and diligently wore the retainer I was given as instructed. A month ago, I had a really bad relapse with my mental health, and dental care went out of the window. Feeling a lot better now, I put them on and I'm aiming to keep them on as long as possible during the day and night for a week or two. They fit practically perfectly, and I only feel the tiniest bit of pressure on my teeth but it's not really noticeable unless I think about it. Will my teeth be okay? I haven't seen any drastic changes in terms of their positioning in the mirror, maybe a little ..read more

Just got an amalgam filling today and my dentist did NOT tell me about the 24 hour setting time...have I screwed it up by chewing gum?

I feel like an idiot. I got a cavity in one of my lower molars with my oldest (composite) filling, which was about 14 years old. So my dentist drilled it out and filled it again with amalgam this time, saying it would likely last decades this time. The only things he told me after the procedure were: not to eat for 3 to 4 hours until the numbing wore off so I didn't bite my cheek and tongue, and avoid hot liquids like coffee for a day because of sensitivity, and to stretch my jaw out every few hours if it was tender. He didn't mention waiting to chew or eat on that side of my mouth. I've only ..read more

Are there any dentists out there that could fix my teeth? I have mostly crowding. On both top and bottom. It has bothered me my entire life. Thin is, like most people, I just don't have the money to get them fixed. It's way too expensive ?. I don't know, just thought I would give this a try. If not it's ok. I am just asking. submitted by /u/CodyOGoins [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi all, About a week ago my gf said to me (25M) that my breath sometimes smelled differently. Always had good check ups, last one was 2 months ago. Never had a cavity. Yesterday I checked in my mouth as it hurt a little bit on the inside while brushing. Then I noticed the grey spot. It didn’t go away while brushing but it smelled a bit funny. No pain. So only symptom now is a smelly breath. My dentist is on vacation till Monday, can it wait till then or should I go to another one? submitted by /u/Biggisswiss [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Sensitivity for straight two months after filling my upper molar with composite. The cavity was small that it didn't show up on xray.i can't chew semihard to hard food and whenever something falls on that area I get a current like sensation that lasts for 3-4 secs. Recently took some serve releiving medicine for a month as prescribed by the dentist and still no improvement. Went to the dentist twice, apparently the bite is fine. The tooth was fine before filling, it didn't have any sensitivity. I feel I made a mistake filling the tooth. Now I have sensitivity even when I am drinking water. Bu ..read more

Zoom teeth whitening reverted back to original color after 2 days

I believe I’m just meant to have yellowish-white teeth. I’ve done everything possible. To this very day all I’ve consumed is skinless chicken breast baked potato with no skin and mozzarella, seasoned with salt Tuna salad Cod fish Water And yet my teeth reverted to its original color. The only fault I can find is that I had to use my old retainers that are yellow, I’ve cleaned it the best I can but it’s still yellow and that had to have affected it. I google it and it said it shouldn’t cause any staining, at most it’ll cause light stains but that is not the case. It took 2 days for it to cause ..read more

What's a good gift to bring to my dentist's office?

I had to cancel a long appointment at the last minute due to a sudden health issue (stomach). I feel terrible because it was two hours blocked out of my dentist's schedule. What is a good gift to bring to say I'm sorry? My initial impulse was candies, but that doesn't feel right to bring to a dental office lol. My next thought is a big pack of nice pens. What do y'all think? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/3yearoldwienerdog [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

my nephew is 3, born in december, and he just lost one of his bottom front teeth a few days ago. this was surprising considering he’s so young. now, my sister and i are even more concerned now that another is loose. *** AND she took him to the dentist a while back and had an x-ray done on his teeth. the dentist then told her that he is missing multiple permanent teeth. i’m not sure exactly how many and my sister is very dramatic and said “i’m not sure, but he listed off like 10 teeth that he didn’t have.” we do not have the best teeth in our family, on both sides. but this has never happened ..read more
