My four years in the FFA in high school were some of the best years of my life. I raised chickens and steers, and I learned to use a cutting torch and welding machine. The Galveston County Livestock Show was an annual highlight where FFA and 4H members show their livestock and exhibit their crafts. I remember entering items that I had sown or crocheted.
