Sunrise, a rivers dream:
Poetry Circle

I’ll miss kissing the light From the start of morning Till the dawn of night. Today it begins With sun’s presence Laying out a carpet Of red blessed gold Along this tranquil liquid surface. So still, You think it never moved. Holding onto The beautiful memories Made alongside It’s soft carved banks. The warm belt responsible Reveals innocent hints Of the baby blue sky. Showing in the night’s canvas No dangerous demons hid. In the mornings dusk Trees taking the time To become silhouettes... Read more ..read more

Wild hunger

I jump to reach the balloon, but it’s flying away like the worries of a cat smelling fish. Hunger makes us do crazy things. We look for balloons in the sky while there are eggs on the table. We can’t reach the yolk within cracked shells. Balloons in sky and eggs on the table hollow ..read more

Strange Blessings
Poetry Circle
by AtticusFinch

The shriek of a newborn dissolves the smell of whiskey drank and locomotive smoke clawing at my nose. My white moon companion and I hold hands and weave in and out of umbrellas, finally finding solace under the limbs of a sycamore. Meek clouds hang like loose flesh over Lake Michigan's shores while the eyes of strangers pierce through me from frost-glazed windows. A "v" of shadows overhead splits two oil stacks towering side by side, who in turn arch their flames, straining to burn the... Read more ..read more

Paxton, my new dog

Dear Paxton, I know we've only been together for one day, but I already feel like you make my whole world better. You have this amazing ability to help me stay calm and centered, even when everything else around me feels chaotic and overwhelming. I love being around you because you make me feel important. You remind me that I have someone who relies on me and needs me, and that gives me a sense of purpose and motivation that I haven't felt in a long time. You also give me goals and help... A Mind Game Perhaps To Play
Poetry Circle
by Jonathan Bracker

A Mind Game Perhaps To Play When you looked closely, you saw That the duck was wearing galoshes And that the giraffe Had a little basket hanging from its neck. But you had to look closely. That is what the picture for children Was all about. There was much in it You had to notice before you could tell What was wrong with the drawing In the family magazine. (It was really kind of fun.) Now you are an adult imagining The challenge, on getting up In the morning, of finding in your mind –... Read more ..read more

Sculptures in the Great Outdoors (with edit) Though made of stone hewn from hillsides they speak of ages past when the world was young Put out a hand to touch their cold skin though blind, their gaze will deepen, though speechless, never dumb They crave our flesh and blood to skip beyond the hills ..read more

The Rain Dance

the gray green frogs that often silently squat as still as bricks and blocks around the pear-shaped garden pond are frisky restless they plop in and out of the weedy water boasting bigly as they billow out many a full-throated croak - a raucous gasconade that both far and near splashes upon the ear they declare a coming of a wetting as bimbo thighed legs akimbo and wagging they swim through cloudy waves of mincing midges - and other madcap bity water-skimmers a sure telling of a... Compassion

I’m drenched in rain, head cocked eyes smushed, blood red heart filled, waiting for my crush. Arms flailing, foot jigs angled, laugher choked and beautiful, love filled animal. Head turns and neck muscles braced, held tightly, in brown eyes, eminating grace brightly. My heart, my heart! Grandfather had the biggest, I hope it was congenital, Blessing all that rains ..read more
