In the fall of my second year, things began to open a little, but it seemed like everyone had already found their friend groups. Then, that spring, I headed off to Dublin, Ireland ..read more

One thing I planned to do while spending my semester abroad was to travel through Europe for a week after my classes ended. While I had never traveled solo before, I thought the experience would be rewarding. I still had my internal doubts and anxiety about traveling alone in foreign cities. In my mind, so many things could have gone wrong. My trip was along the southern coast of France, going from Marseille to Nice via train and taking a day trip to Monaco and Eze. From Nice, I would go to Italy by train to Turin, which would stop in Ventimiglia ..read more

I studied abroad in Kyoto, Japan, from May to August of 2023. I had some experience abroad in high school when I studied in Shanghai, China, during the summer of 2019 and in Rabat, Morocco, during the summer of 2021. You’d think that after all those experiences, that I’d have it down pat, right? It’s funny how that works. Studying abroad throws all sorts of surprises at you, especially when you think you have it all figured out; my time in Japan was no different. However, these experiences bring you to places you may never have been to before ..read more

When abroad, you can connect to locals, peers, and professors that will last a lifetime. These connections can be personal and or professional. From my experiences abroad, I have gained new friendships through my program and keep in touch with them to this day. Building relationships with professors abroad can also lead to more international opportunities and adding another person to be able to vouch for you in letters of recommendation ..read more

Studying abroad is one of the most amazing experiences for college students. I knew as soon as my older sister returned from her study abroad program that I wanted to have the same life-changing experience. As a STEM student, however, I thought my options were more limited, especially when my planned semester for going abroad was right in the middle of COVID. I was even taking a class that included three weeks in Guatemala, which was canceled due to closed borders and RIT not allowing students to go abroad ..read more
