Coming from a pool background, where everyone is playing in a "Race to" mode, I'm quite fascinated by the fact that Snooker still uses this "Best of" approach, rather popular in the American playoff formats (NHL, NBA, etc.) Is there a particular reason why Snooker matches are then played in "Best of" formats rather than "Race to" formats? Wouldn't it be easier for the audience to know, how many games one has to win in order to win the match rather than calculating that from the best of? At... Read more ..read more

Good day all, I am currently trying to get an idea of who lives in Colorado that know how to play or would be interested in playing snooker in the Denver metro area? This is a feeler to try and gauge the interest in the area to determine if a table or two would become available for use, would there be sufficient interest to hold local, regional and national tournaments, mostly invitationals in nature. And as always, if you know of any tables for sale locally, please mention. Look forward... Read more ..read more

Best Place to sell very early 1900 Brunswick Snooker Table Very early 1900 Brunswick snooker table, also comes with a set of billiard rails. This was bought by my brother in law, in the late 50's or early 60's, out of a pool hall in San Bernardino I believe. It may need refinishing, as I haven't seen it in about four years. Simonis needs replacing and It is in Colorado. I'm trying to get a feel for a value as they aren't well and have moved to assisted living. I'm trying to find out... Read more ..read more

Ronnie O'Sullivan getting whitewashed 0-6 by Mark Selby yesterday in the Players Championship was quite the shocker! Not super surprising that Selby beats Ronnie (even though Selby has been playing poorly and Ronnie has been flying) but 6-0 ..read more

Snooker - cue ball off the table

my lady friend was reading somewhere in snooker rules that if the cue ball is hit off the table that the opponent can shoot ANY ball after placing it in the D. we have always played that it is a foul, 4 unless the shot involved a higher point ball. I'm thinking that actually could make sense as it gives a larger advantage to the opponent, so one would then try to be more careful.. and be less likely to damage balls etc.. it often happens when someone is getting a bit too overzealous...
