Development tip #28: Seeking out connection
Development Tip
by
3y ago
Creating connections with others is a proactive skill. If you want new connections and for them to become strong relationships, you have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone to create those things. Just because you do not have those connections now does not mean you will not be able to have them in the future. One way to seek out new connections is to follow your interests. This often leads to finding others who share similar values. #developmenttip28 #developmenttipbypat #personalleadership ..read more

Development tip #26: Values
Development Tip
by

Developing a set of core values is like an inner compass that helps you navigate the world. When things don’t feel right, it can point you in the right direction. Your values can lead the way for you when you there is no clear path. Take some time to write or reflect on a core value you have. When done put it up on your wall to remind yourself everyday. If and when your values change, make the appropriate changes to your wall. #developmenttip26 #developmenttipbypat #personalleadership ..read more

Development tip #25: Support system
Development Tip

Surrounding yourself with supportive friends, mentors, and/or reminders can you lift you up when down and can take you further than without. Maybe it means having friends who you can reach out to for advice or having an affirmation or a photography wall of your favorite moments to remind you of your purpose. Create a support system for yourself right now. It will make the bad times good and the good times better.  #developmenttip25 #developmenttipbypat #personalleadership ..read more

Development tip #24: Misinformation
Development Tip
by
3y ago
There is a world mis/information out there. Before you criticize or share, stop and ask “is this true?” next ask “how can I find out if it’s true?” Do this even when your logic and intuition tells you to automatically agree with a thing simply because it sounds plausible. #developmenttip23 #developmenttipbypat #personalleadership ..read more

Development tip #23: Emotion
Development Tip
by

Naming and identifying your emotions can prevent them from overpowering you. When you name an emotion it can give you power over even the strongest feelings. You will be better able to manage your reaction to a stimulus or situation rather than it managing you. #developmenttip23 #developmenttipbypat #personalleadership ..read more

Development tip #22: Honor how you feel
Development Tip
by

Honor how you feel. If you’re upset, you’re upset and don’t deny it. Go outside or step away from the situation. Listen to music, workout, or find a friend to rant. Think of some solutions then come back and address the problem. #developmenttip22 #developmenttipbypat #personalleadership ..read more

Development tip #21: Reposition
Development Tip

I’m a firefighter/paramedic who responds to over 500 fire incidents annually. The following is a  development tip I learned on a fire call. I needed a tool from one of our trucks. It was mounted high and it was heavy. I could not get it at first and thought I didn’t have the muscle for it. Wrong. I repositioned myself, climbed into the compartment and got the tool easily. I have the muscle, I just needed to reposition. What do you need to reposition in your life to get the things you need? #developmenttip21 #developmenttipbypat #personalleadership ..read more

Don’t be afraid to ask why. Stick with those who are open to answering all your questions and are encouraging. Stay curious and never ever get comfortable even if you’ve done a thing a thousand times. Lastly, studying and practice are not just for school. #developmenttip20 #developmenttipbypat #personalleadership ..read more
